This is another run of the Coccinelle script for converting kmalloc()
family of allocations to kmalloc_obj() via the existing rules in
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci
This catches both the set of kmalloc() uses added since the first
kmalloc_obj() conversions in v7.0 and adds a large group missed in the
first pass due to Coccinelle not interacting well with the cleanup.h
scoped_...() family of macros[1]. I worked around this with spatch's
"--macro-file" argument to a file with all the scoped_...() macros mapped
to Coccinelle's YACFE_ITERATOR[2] as that was the closest viable control
flow indicator I could find.
Build tested allmodconfig on x86, arm64, arm, loongarch, mips, powerpc,
riscv, and s390 with no new warnings.

fprobe_remove_ips() manually duplicates the unregister and filter-removal
logic for both graph and ftrace ops. Simplify it by delegating to the
existing fprobe_graph_remove_ips() and fprobe_ftrace_remove_ips() helpers.

In register_fprobe(), get_ips_from_filter() resolves target function
addresses and increments module reference counts via try_module_get() for
symbols in kernel modules. If get_ips_from_filter() fails on the second
pass and returns an error, register_fprobe() returned directly without
releasing module references acquired up to that point.
Fix this by ensuring the cleanup loop executing module_put() runs even when
get_ips_from_filter() returns a negative error.

fp pointer and unsigned long have the same size on all relevant
architectures that build Linux. Furthermore this struct is only used in
architectures that do not set ARCH_DEFINE_ENCODE_FPROBE_HEADER which is
set only for 64bit architectures (apart from LoongArch).
Both fields are aligned on these architectures so the struct with
__packed and without it are the same.
Remove the __packed as it is unnecessary.

fprobe_fgraph_entry() sizes a shadow-stack reservation in one walk of
the per-ip fprobe list and fills it in a second walk, both under
rcu_read_lock() only. A fprobe registered on an already-live ip can
become visible between the two walks, so the fill walk processes an
exit_handler the sizing walk did not count and used runs past
reserved_words. If the sizing walk counted nothing, fgraph_data is NULL
and the first write_fprobe_header() faults:

Commit 4346ba1604093 ("fprobe: Rewrite fprobe on function-graph tracer")
changed fprobe to register struct fprobe to an rcu-hlist, but it forgot
to wait for RCU GP. Thus there can be use-after-free if the fprobe is
released right after unregistering. This can be happened on fprobe
event and sample module code.
To fix this issue, add synchronize_rcu() in unregister_fprobe().
Note that BPF is OK because fprobe is used as a part of
bpf_kprobe_multi_link. This unregisters its fprobe in
bpf_kprobe_multi_link_release() and it is deallocated via
bpf_kprobe_multi_link_dealloc(), which is invoked from
bpf_link_defer_dealloc_rcu_gp() RCU callback.
For BPF, this also introduced unregister_fprobe_async() which does
NOT wait for RCU grace priod.

Fix fprobe to unregister ftrace_ops if corresponding type of fprobe
does not exist on the fprobe_ip_table and it is expected to be empty
when unloading modules.
Since ftrace thinks that the empty hash means everything to be traced,
if we set fprobes only on the unloaded module, all functions are traced
unexpectedly after unloading module.

Commit 2c67dc457bc6 ("tracing: fprobe: optimization for entry only case")
introduced a different ftrace_ops for entry-only fprobes.
However, when unregistering an fprobe, the kernel only checks if another
fprobe exists at the same address, without checking which type of fprobe
it is.
If different fprobes are registered at the same address, the same address
will be registered in both fgraph_ops and ftrace_ops, but only one of
them will be deleted when unregistering. (the one removed first will not
be deleted from the ops).
This results in junk entries remaining in either fgraph_ops or ftrace_ops.

As you can see, an entry for the vfs_read remains.
To fix this issue, when unregistering, the kernel should also check if
there is the same type of fprobes still exist at the same address, and
if not, delete its entry from either fgraph_ops or ftrace_ops.

fprobe_remove_node_in_module() is called under RCU read locked, but
this invokes kcalloc() if there are more than 8 fprobes installed
on the module. Sashiko warns it because kcalloc() can sleep [1].

To fix this issue, expand the batch size to 128 and do not expand
the fprobe_addr_list, but just cancel walking on fprobe_ip_table,

When register_fprobe_ips() fails, it tries to remove a list of
fprobe_hash_node from fprobe_ip_table, but it missed to remove
fprobe itself from fprobe_table. Moreover, when removing
the fprobe_hash_node which is added to rhltable once, it must
use kfree_rcu() after removing from rhltable.
To fix these issues, this reuses unregister_fprobe() internal
code to rollback the half-way registered fprobe.

unregister_fprobe() can fail under memory pressure because of memory
allocation failure, but this maybe called from module unloading, and
usually there is no way to retry it. Moreover. trace_fprobe does not
check the return value.
To fix this problem, unregister fprobe and fprobe_hash_node even if
working memory allocation fails.
Anyway, if the last fprobe is removed, the filter will be freed.

Reject registration of a registered fprobe which is on the fprobe
hash table before initializing fprobe.
The add_fprobe_hash() checks this re-register fprobe, but since
fprobe_init() clears hlist_array field, it is too late to check it.
It has to check the re-registration before touncing fprobe.

If fprobe_entry does not fill the allocated fgraph_data completely, the
unused part does not have to be zeroed.
fgraph_data is a short-lived part of the shadow stack. The preceding
length field allows locating the end regardless of the content.

This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.
As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Pull tracing fixes from Steven Rostedt:
- Fix accounting of stop_count in file release
On opening the trace file, if "pause-on-trace" option is set, it will
increment the stop_count. On file release, it checks if stop_count is
set, and if so it decrements it. Since this code was originally
written, the stop_count can be incremented by other use cases. This
makes just checking the stop_count not enough to know if it should be
decremented.
Add a new iterator flag called "PAUSE" and have it set if the open
disables tracing and only decrement the stop_count if that flag is
set on close.
- Remove length field in trace_seq_printf() of print_synth_event()
When printing the synthetic event that has a static length array
field, the vsprintf() of the trace_seq_printf() triggered a
"(efault)" in the output. That's because the print_fmt replaced the
"%.*s" with "%s" causing the arguments to be off.

For now, we will use ftrace for the fprobe if fp->exit_handler not exists
and CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS is enabled.
However, CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS is not supported by some arch,
such as arm. What we need in the fprobe is the function arguments, so we
can use ftrace for fprobe if CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS is enabled.
Therefore, use ftrace if CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS or
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS enabled.

For now, fgraph is used for the fprobe, even if we need trace the entry
only. However, the performance of ftrace is better than fgraph, and we
can use ftrace_ops for this case.
Then performance of kprobe-multi increases from 54M to 69M. Before this
commit:
$ ./benchs/run_bench_trigger.sh kprobe-multi
kprobe-multi : 54.663 ± 0.493M/s
After this commit:
$ ./benchs/run_bench_trigger.sh kprobe-multi
kprobe-multi : 69.447 ± 0.143M/s
Mitigation is disable during the bench testing above.

Since the fprobe_ip_table is used from module unloading in
the failure path of load_module(), it must be initialized in
the earlier timing than late_initcall(). Unless that, the
fprobe_module_callback() will use an uninitialized spinlock of
fprobe_ip_table.
Initialize fprobe_ip_table in core_initcall which is the same
timing as ftrace.

The 'ret' local variable in fprobe_remove_node_in_module() was used
for checking the error state in the loop, but commit dfe0d675df82
("tracing: fprobe: use rhltable for fprobe_ip_table") removed the loop.
So we don't need it anymore.

For now, all the kernel functions who are hooked by the fprobe will be
added to the hash table "fprobe_ip_table". The key of it is the function
address, and the value of it is "struct fprobe_hlist_node".
The budget of the hash table is FPROBE_IP_TABLE_SIZE, which is 256. And
this means the overhead of the hash table lookup will grow linearly if
the count of the functions in the fprobe more than 256. When we try to
hook all the kernel functions, the overhead will be huge.
Therefore, replace the hash table with rhltable to reduce the overhead.

Even if there is a memory allocation failure in fprobe_addr_list_add(),
there is a partial list of module addresses. So remove the recorded
addresses from filter if exists.
This also removes the redundant ret local variable.

Since preempt_count_add/del() are tracable functions, it is not allowed
to use preempt_disable/enable() in ftrace handlers. Without this fix,
probing on `preempt_count_add%return` will cause an infinite recursion
of fprobes.
To fix this problem, use preempt_disable/enable_notrace() in
fprobe_return().

Currently fprobe events are registered when it is defined. Thus it will
give some overhead even if it is disabled. This changes it to register the
fprobe only when it is enabled.

This warning occurs because fprobe_remove_node_in_module() traverses an
RCU list using RCU primitives without holding an RCU read lock. However,
the function is only called from fprobe_module_callback(), which holds
the fprobe_mutex lock that provides sufficient protection for safely
traversing the list.
Fix the warning by specifying the locking design to the
CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST mechanism. Add the lockdep_is_held() argument to
hlist_for_each_entry_rcu() to inform the RCU checker that fprobe_mutex
provides the required protection.

Cleanup fprobe address hash table on module unloading because the
target symbols will be disappeared when unloading module and not
sure the same symbol is mapped on the same address.
Note that this is at least disables the fprobes if a part of target
symbols on the unloaded modules. Unlike kprobes, fprobe does not
re-enable the probe point by itself. To do that, the caller should
take care register/unregister fprobe when loading/unloading modules.
This simplifies the fprobe state managememt related to the module
loading/unloading.

Since register_fprobe() does not get the module reference count while
registering fgraph filter, if the target functions (symbols) are in
modules, those modules can be unloaded when registering fprobe to
fgraph.
To avoid this issue, get the reference counter of module for each
symbol, and put it after register the fprobe.

When adding a new fprobe, it will update the function hash to the
functions the fprobe is attached to and register with function graph to
have it call the registered functions. The fprobe_graph_active variable
keeps track of the number of fprobes that are using function graph.
If two fprobes attach to the same function, it increments the
fprobe_graph_active for each of them. But when they are removed, the first
fprobe to be removed will see that the function it is attached to is also
used by another fprobe and it will not remove that function from
function_graph. The logic will skip decrementing the fprobe_graph_active
variable.
This causes the fprobe_graph_active variable to not go to zero when all
fprobes are removed, and in doing so it does not unregister from
function graph. As the fgraph ops hash will now be empty, and an empty
filter hash means all functions are enabled, this triggers function graph
to add a callback to the fprobe infrastructure for every function!

When the last fprobe is removed, it calls unregister_ftrace_graph() to
remove the graph_ops from function graph. The issue is when it does so, it
calls return before removing the function from its graph ops via
ftrace_set_filter_ips(). This leaves the last function lingering in the
fprobe's fgraph ops and if a probe is added it also enables that last
function (even though the callback will just drop it, it does add unneeded
overhead to make that call).

The above enabled a fprobe on kernel_clone, and then on schedule_timeout.
The content of the enabled_functions shows the functions that have a
callback attached to them. The fprobe attached to those functions
properly. Then the fprobes were cleared, and enabled_functions was empty
after that. But after adding a fprobe on kmem_cache_free, the
enabled_functions shows that the schedule_timeout was attached again. This
is because it was still left in the fprobe ops that is used to tell
function graph what functions it wants callbacks from.

Fprobe store its data structure address and size on the fgraph return stack
by __fprobe_header. But most 64bit architecture can combine those to
one unsigned long value because 4 MSB in the kernel address are the same.
With this encoding, fprobe can consume less space on ret_stack.
This introduces asm/fprobe.h to define arch dependent encode/decode
macros. Note that since fprobe depends on CONFIG_HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_FREGS,
currently only arm64, loongarch, riscv, s390 and x86 are supported.

Rewrite fprobe implementation on function-graph tracer.
Major API changes are:
- 'nr_maxactive' field is deprecated.
- This depends on CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS or
!CONFIG_HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS, and
CONFIG_HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_FREGS. So currently works only
on x86_64.
- Currently the entry size is limited in 15 * sizeof(long).
- If there is too many fprobe exit handler set on the same
function, it will fail to probe.

Change the fprobe exit handler to use ftrace_regs structure instead of
pt_regs. This also introduce HAVE_FTRACE_REGS_HAVING_PT_REGS which
means the ftrace_regs is including the pt_regs so that ftrace_regs
can provide pt_regs without memory allocation.
Fprobe introduces a new dependency with that.

This allows fprobes to be available with CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS
instead of CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS, then we can enable fprobe
on arm64.

Fix to allocate fprobe::entry_data_size buffer with rethook instances.
If fprobe doesn't allocate entry_data_size buffer for each rethook instance,
fprobe entry handler can cause a buffer overrun when storing entry data in
entry handler.

kretprobe is using freelist to manage return-instances, but freelist,
as LIFO queue based on singly linked list, scales badly and reduces
the overall throughput of kretprobed routines, especially for high
contention scenarios.
Here's a typical throughput test of sys_prctl (counts in 10 seconds,
measured with perf stat -a -I 10000 -e syscalls:sys_enter_prctl):

This patch introduces objpool to replace freelist. objpool is a
high performance queue, which can bring near-linear scalability
to kretprobed routines. Tests of kretprobe throughput show the
biggest ratio as 159x of original freelist. Here's the result:

the dynamic size data. This may mis-count the used dynamic data
size and corrupt data.
- Revert "tracing: Add "(fault)" name injection to kernel probes"
because that did not work correctly with a bug, and we agreed the
current '(fault)' output (instead of '"(fault)"' like a string)
explains what happened more clearly.
- Fix to record 0-length (means fault access) data_loc data in fetch
function itself, instead of store_trace_args(). If we record an
array of string, this will fix to save fault access data on each
entry of the array correctly.

rethook_free()
Ensure running fprobe_exit_handler() has finished before
calling rethook_free() in the unregister_fprobe() so that caller can free
the fprobe right after unregister_fprobe().
unregister_fprobe() ensured that all running fprobe_entry/exit_handler()
have finished by calling unregister_ftrace_function() which synchronizes
RCU. But commit 5f81018753df ("fprobe: Release rethook after the ftrace_ops
is unregistered") changed to call rethook_free() after
unregister_ftrace_function(). So call rethook_stop() to make rethook
disabled before unregister_ftrace_function() and ensure it again.
Here is the possible code flow that can call the exit handler after
unregister_fprobe().

In unregister_fprobe function we can't release fp->rethook while it's
possible there are some of its users still running on another cpu.
Moving rethook_free call after fp->ops is unregistered with
unregister_ftrace_function call.

Add fprobe events for tracing function entry and exit instead of kprobe
events. With this change, we can continue to trace function entry/exit
even if the CONFIG_KPROBES_ON_FTRACE is not available. Since
CONFIG_KPROBES_ON_FTRACE requires the CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS,
it is not available if the architecture only supports
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS. And that means kprobe events can not
probe function entry/exit effectively on such architecture.
But this can be solved if the dynamic events supports fprobe events.
The fprobe event is a new dynamic events which is only for the function
(symbol) entry and exit. This event accepts non register fetch arguments
so that user can trace the function arguments and return values.
The fprobe events syntax is here;

Pass return address as 'ret_ip' to the fprobe entry and return handlers
so that the fprobe user handler can get the reutrn address without
analyzing arch-dependent pt_regs.
