mnt_warn_timestamp_expiry() allocates memory for a path with
__get_free_page() although there is a dedicated helper for allocation of
file paths: __getname().
Replace __get_free_page() for allocation of a path buffer with __getname().
Christian Brauner <brauner@kernel.org> says:
Pass PATH_MAX (not PAGE_SIZE) to d_path() to match the size that
__getname() actually allocates, and drop the now-unnecessary NULL check
around __putname() since __putname() handles NULL. Both per Jan Kara's
review feedback, acked by the author.

cifs_copy_folioq_to_iter() copies a requested number of bytes from
a folio queue into the destination iterator. Since the encrypted
SMB2 READ path was changed to pass the server-declared payload
length (data_len) instead of the larger folioq buffer length, the
caller can ask for fewer bytes than the folio queue holds.
In that case the helper continues walking the remaining folios after
data_size has reached zero and calls copy_folio_to_iter() with
len = 0, which is unnecessary work.
The helper also returns 0 (success) when the folio queue is
exhausted before data_size bytes have been copied. The caller has
no way to distinguish that from a full copy and the reported
transfer count ends up larger than the amount of data placed in the
iterator.
Add an early exit when data_size reaches zero, and return an error
when the folio queue is exhausted before all requested bytes have
been copied.

Use `clear_and_wake_up_bit()` in `journal_end_buffer_io_sync()`, since
the helper was introduced in 'commit 8236b0ae31c83 ("bdi: wake up

FSCTL_SET_SPARSE
FSCTL_SET_SPARSE in fsctl_set_sparse() modifies the file's sparse
attribute and saves it through xattr without any permission checks.
This exposes two issues:
1) A client on a read-only share can change the sparse attribute
on files it opened, even though the share is read-only.
Other FSCTL write operations already check
test_tree_conn_flag(work->tcon, KSMBD_TREE_CONN_FLAG_WRITABLE),
but FSCTL_SET_SPARSE does not.
2) Even on writable shares, clients without FILE_WRITE_DATA or
FILE_WRITE_ATTRIBUTES access should not modify the sparse
attribute. Similar handle-level checks exist in other functions
but are missing here.
Add both share-level writable check and per-handle access check.
Use goto out on error to avoid leaking file references.

ksmbd_query_inode_status() and ksmbd_lookup_fd_inode() both take a
reference on a ksmbd_inode via __ksmbd_inode_lookup() (which performs
atomic_inc_not_zero()) and later release it using a bare
atomic_dec(&ci->m_count). Unlike ksmbd_inode_put(), a bare
atomic_dec() does not check whether the reference count has reached
zero, so if the caller happens to drop the last reference, the
ksmbd_inode is leaked: it stays in the global inode hash table with
m_count == 0, future __ksmbd_inode_lookup() calls reject it via
atomic_inc_not_zero(), and ksmbd_inode_free() is never invoked.
The race is:
T1: __ksmbd_inode_lookup() -> atomic_inc_not_zero(): m_count = 2
T2: ksmbd_inode_put() -> atomic_dec_and_test(): m_count = 1
(not freed)
T1: atomic_dec(&ci->m_count) -> m_count = 0
return (LEAK)
In ksmbd_lookup_fd_inode() the matched-fp path (which now also uses
ksmbd_inode_put()) cannot currently reach m_count == 0 because the
matched ksmbd_file holds its own reference on ci, but converting it to
the proper API keeps the three call sites consistent and avoids
future regressions if the locking changes.
Because ksmbd_inode_put() may free the ksmbd_inode if this drops the
last reference, the call must happen after up_read(&ci->m_lock) on the
two affected paths in ksmbd_lookup_fd_inode(). On the no-match path
this is a pure reordering; on the matched path ksmbd_fp_get() is
moved above the unlock so that the returned ksmbd_file is pinned
before the inode reference is released.

Commit d07b26f39246 ("ksmbd: require minimum ACE size in
smb_check_perm_dacl()") introduced a transposed bounds check:
if (offsetof(struct smb_ace, sid) + aces_size < CIFS_SID_BASE_SIZE)
Since offsetof(..sid) is 8 and CIFS_SID_BASE_SIZE is 8, this evaluates
to `aces_size < 0`. Because `aces_size` is always non-negative, this
check becomes dead code and never breaks the loop.
Worse, that commit removed the old 4-byte guard, meaning the loop now
reads `ace->size` (offset 2) even when `aces_size` is 0-3 bytes. This
re-opens a 2-byte heap out-of-bounds (OOB) read past the pntsd allocation
during subsequent SMB2_CREATE operations.
Fix this by properly transposing the comparison to require at least
16 bytes (8-byte offset + 8-byte SID base), matching the correct form
used in smb_inherit_dacl().

Reading /proc/interrupts iterates over the interrupt number space one by
one and looks up the descriptors one by one. That's just a waste of time.
When CONFIG_GENERIC_IRQ_SHOW is enabled this can utilize the maple tree and
cache the descriptor pointer efficiently for the sequence file operations.
Implement a CONFIG_GENERIC_IRQ_SHOW specific version in the core code and
leave the fs/proc/ variant for the legacy architectures which ignore generic
code.
This reduces the time wasted for looking up the next record significantly.

The special treatment of these counts is just adding extra code for no real
value. The irq_stats mechanism allows to suppress output of counters, which
should never happen by default and provides a mechanism to enable them for
the rare case that they occur.
Move the IOAPIC misrouted and the PIC/APIC error counts into irq_stats,
mark them suppressed by default and update the sites which increment them.
This changes the output format of 'ERR' and 'MIS' in case there are events
to the regular per CPU display format and otherwise suppresses them
completely.
As a side effect this removes the arch_cpu_stat() mechanism from proc/stat
which was only there to account for the error interrupts on x86 and missed
to take the misrouted ones into account.

exec_mmap() installs the new mm and then tears the old one down while
still holding exec_update_lock for writing -- and with cred_guard_mutex
held all the way to setup_new_exec():
setmax_mm_hiwater_rss(&tsk->signal->maxrss, old_mm);
mm_update_next_owner(old_mm);
mmput(old_mm);
Neither lock is needed for this. exec_update_lock only exists to make the
mm swap atomic with the later commit_creds(), so that permission-checking
readers (proc, ptrace, the futex robust list, perf, kcmp, mm_access())
never observe the new mm together with the old credentials. Those readers
all operate on task->mm, i.e. the new mm after the swap; none looks at the
detached old mm, its ->owner or signal->maxrss. cred_guard_mutex guards
credential calculation and is equally irrelevant here.
The cost is real: __mmput() runs exit_mmap() over the entire old address
space and can block in exit_aio() waiting for in-flight AIO, all while
holding exec_update_lock for writing and cred_guard_mutex. For execve() of
a large process this blocks ptrace_attach() and every exec_update_lock
reader for the duration of the teardown.
Stash the old mm in bprm->old_mm and release it from setup_new_exec()
after both locks are dropped. setup_new_exec() still runs before
setup_arg_pages() and the segment mappings, so the old address space is
freed before the new one is populated and peak memory is unchanged. The
ordering constraints are kept: old_mm's mmap_lock is still dropped in
exec_mmap() before mm_update_next_owner() (required since commit
31a78f23bac0 ("mm owner: fix race between swapoff and exit")), and
mm_update_next_owner() still precedes mmput(); both run in the execing
task's context, as mm_update_next_owner() requires.
If exec swaps the mm but fails before setup_new_exec() runs the old mm
would leak, so add a backstop in free_bprm(). The lazy-tlb case
(old_mm == NULL, e.g. kernel_execve()) has no address space to
free and is left in exec_mmap().

The dumpable flag captured at execve() is consulted by
__ptrace_may_access() and several /proc owner / visibility checks.
It lives on mm_struct today, which exit_mm() clears from the task
long before the task itself is reaped.
exec_state is anchored to the execve() that established the current
privilege domain. CLONE_VM siblings refcount-share the parent's
exec_state via copy_exec_state(); non-CLONE_VM clones allocate a
fresh exec_state inheriting the parent's dumpable mode and user_ns
reference via task_exec_state_copy(). execve() allocates a fresh
instance (via alloc_task_exec_state() in begin_new_exec()) and
installs it under task_lock + exec_update_lock with
task_exec_state_replace(). init_task uses a static instance.
The dumpable mode now lives on task->exec_state->dumpable.
task->mm->flags no longer carries dumpability; MMF_DUMPABLE_MASK is
removed, but MMF_DUMPABLE_BITS is reserved so MMF_DUMP_FILTER_* bit
positions remain stable for the /proc/<pid>/coredump_filter ABI. The
task->user_dumpable cache bit and its assignment in exit_mm() are
removed; readers go through get_dumpable(task) directly.
coredump_params gains a snapshot field cprm.dumpable, populated from
get_dumpable(current) at vfs_coredump() entry, replacing the previous
__get_dumpable(cprm->mm_flags) consumers in fs/coredump.c and
fs/pidfs.c.
The user namespace recorded at execve() is consulted by
__ptrace_may_access() and by /proc/PID/* owner derivation. Move the
captured user_ns onto task_exec_state, which stays attached to the task
past exit_mm() and across exit_files().
bprm grows a user_ns field staged in bprm_mm_init() with the caller's
user_ns, narrowed by would_dump() to the closest privileged ancestor,
and consumed by exec_mmap() via alloc_task_exec_state(bprm->user_ns).
free_bprm() releases the staging reference.
mm_struct loses ->user_ns entirely. Initializers in init-mm, efi_mm,
and the implicit one in mm_init()/dup_mm()/mm_alloc() are removed;
__mmdrop() drops the matching put_user_ns(). The kthread_use_mm()
WARN_ON_ONCE(!mm->user_ns) is no longer meaningful and goes too.

Replace the SUID_DUMP_DISABLE/USER/ROOT preprocessor constants with
enum task_dumpable. Numeric values are preserved (kernel.suid_dumpable
sysctl and prctl(PR_SET_DUMPABLE) ABI), so this is a pure rename with
no behavioral change.
Subsequent commits relocate dumpability onto a per-task structure
where the enum type will allow stronger type-checking on the new API.

The operations FUSE_NOTIFY_STORE and FUSE_NOTIFY_RETRIEVE allow the
FUSE daemon to actively write/read pagecache contents.
For directories with FOPEN_CACHE_DIR, the pagecache is used as
kernel-internal cache storage, and userspace is not supposed to have
direct access to this cache - in particular, fuse_parse_cache() will hit
WARN_ON() if the cache contains bogus data.
Reject FUSE_NOTIFY_STORE and FUSE_NOTIFY_RETRIEVE on anything other than
regular files with -EINVAL.

FUSE_NOTIFY_RETRIEVE must be limited to uptodate folios; !uptodate folios
can contain uninitialized data.
Since FUSE_NOTIFY_RETRIEVE is intended to only return data that is already
in the page cache and not wait for data from the FUSE daemon, treat
!uptodate folios as if they weren't present.
This only has security impact on systems that don't enable automatic
zero-initialization of all page allocations via
CONFIG_INIT_ON_ALLOC_DEFAULT_ON or init_on_alloc=1.

Commit 741c10b096bc ("kernfs: Use RCU to access kernfs_node::name.")
converted the WARN_ONCE() in kernfs_put() to read kn->name and
parent->name via rcu_dereference(), but kernfs_put() has callers that
hold neither kernfs_rwsem nor the RCU read lock. The inode eviction
path driven by memory reclaim is one such case:
kernfs_put+0x53/0x60 fs/kernfs/dir.c:602
evict+0x3c2/0xad0 fs/inode.c:846
iput_final fs/inode.c:1966 [inline]

super_cache_scan+0x328/0x550 fs/super.c:223
...
kswapd+0x556/0xba0 mm/vmscan.c:7343
lockdep complains with "suspicious RCU usage" whenever the WARN
fires from such a context.
Wrap the rcu_dereference() calls in an RCU read-side critical section.
Gate on the active-ref check so the lock is only taken when the WARN
is about to fire.
Note that this does not address the underlying imbalance in
kn->active that triggers the WARN.

Tracking in-flight inode wb switches with a single global counter
(isw_nr_in_flight) plus a synchronize_rcu() based wait in
cgroup_writeback_umount() forces every umount to take a global hit
whenever any other superblock on the system has wb switches in flight,
even if the superblock being unmounted has none of its own.
Replace the global synchronize_rcu()/flush_workqueue() pair with a
per-sb counter, s_isw_nr_in_flight, plus three small helpers:
- cgroup_writeback_pin(sb) - increment counter
- cgroup_writeback_unpin(sb) - decrement and wake drainer if last
- cgroup_writeback_drain(sb) - wait for counter to reach zero
The wiring is:
- inode_prepare_wbs_switch() pins before checking SB_ACTIVE and
grabbing the inode; failure paths unpin before returning. A
lockless SB_ACTIVE check at the top of the function lets us skip
the atomic_inc/smp_mb dance once SB_ACTIVE has been cleared (it
is monotonic and never set back).
- process_inode_switch_wbs() unpins after the matching iput().
- cgroup_writeback_umount() drains the per-sb counter via
wait_var_event().
The smp_mb() pair between inode_prepare_wbs_switch() and
cgroup_writeback_umount() keeps the SB_ACTIVE / counter ordering:
either the umounter sees a non-zero counter and waits, or the
switcher sees SB_ACTIVE cleared and aborts before grabbing the
inode.
The global isw_nr_in_flight is left in place, since it is still used
to throttle in-flight switches via WB_FRN_MAX_IN_FLIGHT.
The rcu_read_lock() extension in inode_switch_wbs() and
cleanup_offline_cgwb() that the race fix added is no longer needed
and is reverted; the synchronize_rcu() that the race fix added to
cgroup_writeback_umount() is dropped as well.
The following numbers were measured on a 16 vCPU QEMU guest with 4
background superblocks each churning "create memcg -> write 1 MiB ->
rmdir memcg" to keep the global isw_nr_in_flight non-zero. Latencies
are wall-clock around umount(8); only the target sb's umount is
measured.
Target sb runs its own cgwb churn:
p50 p95 p99 max
global synchronize_rcu() 67.6 ms 88.3 ms 88.3 ms 96.8 ms
per-sb counter (this) 7.9 ms 10.0 ms 10.0 ms 10.1 ms
Idle target umount latency under cross-sb cgwb-switch pressure:
p50 p95 p99 max
global synchronize_rcu() 62.7 ms 95.4 ms 108.1 ms 108.6 ms
per-sb counter (this) 5.3 ms 6.9 ms 7.4 ms 7.4 ms
no-pressure baseline 4.9 ms 5.9 ms 6.3 ms 6.7 ms
8 concurrent umounts of idle sbs under the same pressure:
p50 p95 max
global synchronize_rcu() 61.3 ms 99.5 ms 113.7 ms
per-sb counter (this) 8.1 ms 9.1 ms 9.5 ms
In-kernel cgroup_writeback_umount() time across the same run
(bpftrace, ~340 calls covering all scenarios):
global synchronize_rcu() 12371 ms total (~36 ms / call)
per-sb counter (this) 1.37 ms total ( ~4 us / call)
