2026-07-10staging: rtl8723bs: remove unused variable bDumpRxPktAnirban Bose1-2/+0
The 'bDumpRxPkt' variable is declared validate_recv_frame() function and some debug information is written into it by rtw_hal_get_def_var() but as I have checked it, it is not used anywhere else in the function so its basically a useless variable now. I have remove the variable and its assignment in the function. 2026-07-10staging: most: dim2: use dev_err_probe() for clock errors in rcar enable ↵Batu Ada Tutkun1-8/+6
functions rcar_gen2_enable() and rcar_gen3_enable() use the old pattern of dev_err() followed by return PTR_ERR() when devm_clk_get() fails. fsl_mx6_enable() in the same file was already converted to use dev_err_probe() by a previous cleanup series. Convert the remaining two functions for consistency. devm_clk_get() calls clk_get() which can return -EPROBE_DEFER if the clock provider has not yet registered. Using dev_err_probe() suppresses the log at error level in that case, avoiding misleading "cannot get clock" output during a normal deferred probe. clk_prepare_enable() cannot return -EPROBE_DEFER since the clock handle is already acquired at that point, so those error paths are left as dev_err(). Break down the 0x6404 and 0x660F in rtl8723b_InitBeaconParameters() as requested by the TODO in the source. REG_TBTT_PROHIBIT (0x0540): 0x6404 = hold (0x64) and setup (0x04), both in 32us ticks. Same layout as rtw88 (WLAN_TBTT_HOLD_TIME << 8 | WLAN_TBTT_PROHIBIT in rtw88.h). REG_BCNTCFG (0x0510): 0x660F is an EDCA-like register. Lower byte is AIFS (0x0F = no contention before beacon), next nibble is CWmin (0x06), top nibble is CWmax (0x06). Confirmed by rtl8192du/rtl8723ae in the tree which write 0x66FF (test chips) and 0x660F (production) — only AIFS varies, the CW byte stays 0x66. 2026-07-10driver core: platform: count references to all kinds of firmware nodesBartosz Golaszewski1-10/+5
When using platform_device_register_full(), we currently only increase the reference count of the OF node associated with a platform device. We symmetrically decrease it in platform_device_release(). With all users in tree now converted to using provided platform device helpers for assigning OF and firmware nodes, we can now switch to counting references of all kinds of firmware nodes. 2026-07-10usb: typec: ucsi: gaokun: unwind notifier on UCSI register failurePengpeng Hou1-3/+12
gaokun_ucsi_register_worker() registers the EC notifier before calling ucsi_register(). If ucsi_register() fails, the worker currently only logs the error and leaves the notifier registered. Later EC events can then call into an unpublished UCSI instance. The remove path also unconditionally unregisters both the EC notifier and the UCSI device even if the delayed worker failed before both publication steps completed. Unregister the notifier immediately when ucsi_register() fails, and track only the fully published state. The remove path then tears down the pair only if both publication steps completed. When operating in gadget mode connected to a USB host, system suspend fails with -EBUSY because active peripheral connections block suspend entry. Fix this by restricting the -EBUSY check to runtime autosuspend (PMSG_IS_AUTO). For system suspend (!PMSG_IS_AUTO), perform soft disconnect to disconnect from the bus and allow MAC sleep. Since every platform driver can be forced to match a device that doesn't match its list of device IDs because of device_match_driver_override(), platform drivers that rely on the existence of a device's ACPI companion object should verify its presence. san_probe() dereferences the result of ACPI_COMPANION() when installing the GSBUS address space handler, so force-binding the driver to a device without an ACPI companion leads to a NULL pointer dereference. The dereference was introduced when the probe function was switched from ACPI_HANDLE() to ACPI_COMPANION(). Check the ACPI companion against NULL and return -ENODEV when it is missing, like commit e4865a56d013 ("ACPI: driver: Check ACPI_COMPANION() against NULL during probe") does for the core ACPI platform drivers. 2026-07-10platform/x86: asus-wmi: fix resource leaks on probe failureMarco Scardovi1-3/+3
During driver initialization in asus_wmi_add(), various subsystems are registered sequentially. However, the error path labels are out of order relative to the registration sequence. Specifically: 1. If asus_wmi_custom_fan_curve_init() fails, the driver jumps to fail_custom_fan_curve. Because this label is placed below fail_sysfs, it bypasses the cleanup calls for the input device and sysfs groups, which were successfully registered before, leaking those resources. 2. If asus_screenpad_init() fails, the driver jumps to fail_screenpad. Because fail_screenpad is placed below fail_backlight, it bypasses the cleanup calls for backlight and rfkill, leaking those resources. Fix these resource leaks by reordering the error path labels in asus_wmi_add() to match the exact reverse order of the resource allocations. usb_parse_ss_endpoint_companion() clears bmAttributes when it is non-zero for control or interrupt endpoints. The diagnostic message reports Control for control endpoints and Bulk for the other branch. However, the other branch can only be an interrupt endpoint because bulk endpoints are handled by the following else-if branch. Report the endpoint type as Interrupt instead of Bulk to avoid misleading descriptor diagnostics.
