Strengthen xdp_veth_egress to check that each destination observes the
MAC selected for its own egress ifindex, instead of only checking that
the observed MAC differs from a single magic value.
Add a generic XDP last-destination test where an earlier destination does
not have a devmap egress program while the final destination does. This
covers the case where the final destination runs on the original skb and
could otherwise rewrite packet data still shared with an earlier cloned
skb.
Use deterministic DEVMAP_HASH keys for the egress map so the intended
last destination is stable. Initialize the result map with a sentinel
value and check that store_mac_1 overwrites it before checking that the
earlier destination did not observe the MAC written by the final
destination.

The server binds the queues for zero-copy after listen(). If the client
does a connect() during this time it can fail with EHOSTUNREACH on
a cold system. This was encountered with the mlx5 driver where binding
the .ndo_queue_start() is a slow operation during which no packets
can be exchanged.
This change moves listen() after queue binding, when the test server is
fully operational.

UMEM teardown currently recomputes the munmap() length from frame
geometry, shared-UMEM adjustment, and hugepage rounding. This duplicates
setup-time logic in cleanup and relies on re-deriving the mapping size
instead of using the size originally established for the mapping.
Store the final mapping length in xsk_umem_info as mmap_size when the
UMEM mapping is created, and use that value during teardown.
Also join the RX worker thread before cleanup in the single-thread
path. This establishes synchronization before reading umem->mmap_size
in teardown and avoids a potential visibility race.
This removes duplicated size arithmetic in cleanup and makes munmap()
use the canonical mapping size recorded at setup time.

Allocate one shared umem_real in ifobject_create() and let all

Add a tdc test that checks the act_pedit extended L4 header mode does not
edit a packet whose IPv4 protocol does not match the selected transport
header.
The test installs an ingress pedit rule that sets the UDP destination
port, then injects a TCP packet with dport 2222. The UDP and TCP
destination ports sit at the same L4 offset, so a buggy kernel rewrites
the TCP dport. A second flower filter matches TCP dport 2222 and drops
the packet through an indexed gact action; the test then verifies via
JSON that this action saw exactly one packet, i.e. the dport was left
untouched and still matched 2222.

To date, platform firmware maps accelerator memory and accelerator drivers
simply want an address range that they can map themselves. This typically
results in a single region being auto-assembled upon registration of a
memory device. Use the @attach mechanism of devm_cxl_add_memdev()
parameter to retrieve that region while also adhering to CXL subsystem
locking and lifetime rules. As part of adhering to current object lifetime
rules, if the region or the CXL port topology is invalidated, the CXL core
arranges for the accelertor driver to be detached as well.
The locking and lifetime rules were validated with Dave's work-in-progress
cxl-type-2 support for cxl_test.
devm_cxl_add_classdev() supports the general memory expansion flow where
region assembly is optional, dynamic, and user controlled.

Add an explicit dependency between the output object files and the
output directories that need to be created to hold those files. This
ensures that the output directories are always created.
Creating the output directories at parse time (current behavior) doesn't
support the scenario where someone does "make clean all". The
directories will be created during parsing, deleted during "clean" and
then not available for the "all" target.
Use an order-only prerequisite for the output directories, rather than a
normal prerequisite, to avoid unnecessary recompilations.

The mock auto-region created at module load wrote switch and host-bridge
decoder target[] directly, in addition to target_map[]. Real HW programs
only target_map[] and resolves target[] as dports enumerate, via
update_decoder_targets(). Region replay already follows that ordering,
the initial auto-region did not.
Drop the direct target[] writes and call
cxl_port_update_decoder_targets() so target[] is resolved the same way
as real HW and region replay, exercising more of the auto-region driver
path.

Merge two separately sent but vaguely related patches from Christoph
Hellwig. One changes the kmem_cache_alloc_bulk() API to return bool,
because it was already actiong as all-or-nothing, and that aspect was
not documented. Existing callers are updated.
The second patch simplifies the mempool_alloc_bulk() API to stop
skipping over non-NULL entries in the array, and removes a related
parameter that said how many are non-NULL.
A similar simplification of alloc_pages_bulk() is being discussed as
well and should follow in near future.

KVM/arm64 updates for 7.2
* New features:
- None. Zilch. Nada. Que dalle.
* Fixes and other improvements:
- Significant cleanup of the vgic-v5 PPI support which was merged in
7.1. This makes the code more maintainable, and squashes a couple
of bugs in the meantime.
- Set of fixes for the handling of the MMU in an NV context,
particularly VNCR-triggered faults. S1POE support is fixed
as well.
- Large set of pKVM fixes, mostly addressing recurring issues
around hypervisor tracking of donated pages in obscure cases
where the donation could fail and leave things in a bizarre
state.
- Fixes for the so-called "lazy vgic init", which resulted in
sleeping operations in non-preemptible sections. This turned
out to be far more invasive than initially expected...
- Reduce the overhead of L1/L2 context switch by not touching
the FP registers.
- Fix the way non-implemented page sizes are dealt with when
a guest insist on using them for S2 translation.
- The usual set of low-impact fixes and cleanups all over the map.
|
|
KVM SVM changes for 7.2
- Add support for virtualizing gPAT (KVM previously just used L1's PAT when
running L2).
- Fix goofs where KVM mishandles side effects (e.g. single-step and PMC
updates) when emulating VMRUN.
- Fix a variety of bugs in AVIC's handling of x2APIC MSR interception, most
notably where KVM didn't disable interception of IRR, ISR, and TMR regs.
- Add support for virtualizing Host-Only/Guest-Only bits in the mediated PMU.
|
|
KVM SEV changes for 7.2
- Don't advertise support for unusuable VM types, and account for VM types
that are disabled by firmware, e.g. to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Rewrite the SEV {en,de}crypt debug ioctls as they were riddle with bugs and
unnecessarily complicated, and add comprehensive tests.
- Clean up and deduplicate the SEV page pinning code.
- Fix minor goofs related to writing back CPUID information after firmware
rejects a CPUID page for an SNP vCPU.
|
|
KVM selftests changes for 7.2
- Randomize the dirty log test's delay when reaping the bitmap on the first
pass, as always waiting only 1ms hid a KVM RISC-V bug as the test reaped the
bitmap before KVM could build up enough state to hit the bug.
- A pile of one-off fixes and cleanups.
|
|
KVM misc x86 changes for 7.2
- Handle EXIT_FASTPATH_EXIT_USERSPACE in vendor code to ensure vendor code
gets a chance to handle things like reaping the PML buffer.
- Ensure KVM's copy of CR0 and CR3 are up-to-date on SVM prior to invoking
fastpath handlers.
- Update KVM's view of PV async enabling if and only if the MSR write fully
succeeds.
- Fix a variety of issues where the emulator doesn't honor guest-debug state,
and clean up related code along the way.
- Synthesize EPT Violation and #NPF "error code" bits when injecting faults
into L1 that didn't originate in hardware (in which case the VMCS/VMCB
doesn't hold relevant information).
- Add support for virtualizing (well, emulating) AMD's flavor of CPL>0 CPUID
faulting.
- Clean up the GPR APIs so that KVM's use of "raw" is consistent, and fix a
variety of minor bugs along the way.
- Fix an OOB memory access due to not checking the VP ID when handling a
Hyper-V PV TLB flush for L2.
- Fix a bug in the mediated PMU's handling of fixed counters that allowed the
guest to bypass the PMU event filter.
- Allow userspace to return EAGAIN when handling SNP and TDX hypercalls, so
the KVM can forward a "retry" status code to the guest, and reserve all
unused error codes for future usage.
- Misc fixes and cleanups.
|
|
KVM guest_memfd changes for 7.2
- Return -EEXIST instead of -EINVAL if userspace attempts to bind a gmem
range to multiple memslots, and fix the test that was supposed to ensure
KVM returns -EEXIST.
- Treat memslot binding offsets and sizes as unsigned values to fix a bug
where KVM interprets a large "offset + size" as a negative value and allows
a nonsensical offset.
- Use the inode number instead of the page offset for the NUMA interleaving
index to fix a bug where the effective index would jump by two for
consecutive pages (the caller also adds in the page offset).

In aggregation modes (e.g. --per-socket, --per-die, etc.), a counter
might not be scheduled or counted on specific aggregate groups if it was
not assigned to the CPUs belonging to those groups. However, the
printout() check triggers the "print_free_counters_hint" logic
unconditionally for any supported counter with a missing count. This
results in a false "Some events weren't counted. Try disabling the NMI
watchdog" warning.
Furthermore, the NMI watchdog only reserves performance counters on core
PMUs. Uncore PMU events (e.g. CHA, IMC) are not affected by the NMI
watchdog, but their failures also falsely triggered this warning.
This warning was originally introduced in commit 02d492e5dcb72c00 ("perf
stat: Issue a HW watchdog disable hint")
To fix this, restrict setting of print_free_counters_hint to only
trigger for core PMU events by checking counter->pmu and
counter->pmu->is_core.
Example before/after:
$ perf stat -M lpm_miss_lat --metric-only --per-socket -a -- sleep 1
Before:
Performance counter stats for 'system wide':

Before, they were only checked on demand, but it seems better to check
them each time received ADD_ADDRs are checked.
Errors are only reported when the counter exists, and the value is not
the expected one. This is similar to what is done in chk_join_nr: it
reduces the output, and avoids a lot of 'skip' when validating older
kernels. Also here, some tests need to adapt the default expected
counters, e.g. when ADD_ADDR echo are dropped on the reception side, or
it is not possible to send an ADD_ADDR due to the limited option space.

This validates the feature added by parent commit, where it is now
possible to send an ADD_ADDR with a v6 IP address and a port number,
while the connection is using TCP Timestamps.
This test is simply a copy of the previous one: "signal address with
port", but using IPv6 addresses. This test is only executed if the
add_addr_v6_port_drop_ts sysctl knob is available. If not, it means the
kernel doesn't support this feature.

This sysctl is going to be used in the next commits to drop TCP
timestamps option, to be able to send an ADD_ADDR with a v6 IP address
and a port number. It is enabled by default.
This knob is explicitly disabled in the MPTCP Join selftest, with the
"signal addr list progresses after tx drop" subtest, to continue
verifying the previous behaviour where the ADD_ADDR is not sent due to a
lack of space.
While at it, move syn_retrans_before_tcp_fallback down from struct

wrapping
When test descriptions are extremely long (e.g., the truncated perf.data
graceful handling test is 103 characters long), they wrap across terminal
boundaries.
Because the ANSI escape code to delete the line (PERF_COLOR_DELETE_LINE)
only clears a single terminal line, visual wrapping leaves orphan
wrapped lines on the screen, which results in the test description being
printed multiple times.
Resolve this by checking the terminal width (get_term_dimensions) and
dynamically truncating the printed test description to fit within the
available columns, leaving safety space for the prefix index and status
suffix.
Also, remove the width padding from the test suite headers which do not
display inline status messages. This prevents their trailing colons from
wrapping onto new lines on standard width terminals.
Finally, avoid GCC 16's -Wformat-truncation warnings by delegating the
description padding to pr_info's %-*s format specifier instead of padding
within a temporary buffer, and clamp the truncation limit to the temporary
buffer's size.
JUnit XML output and the failure summary report still print the full,
untruncated test descriptions.

Also verify that a storage-less leaf program which cannot perform tail
calls itself is still allowed to join a storage-owned prog array, while

symbol-minimal.c's read_build_id() iterates ELF notes with the same
pattern as symbol-elf.c's elf_read_build_id(): pointer arithmetic
driven by n_namesz and n_descsz from 32-bit note header fields,
without validating that the name and desc fit within the note section
data. A malformed ELF file with oversized note sizes causes
out-of-bounds reads past the section data buffer.
Add the same bounds check as the libelf path: validate namesz and
descsz individually against remaining data before advancing the
pointer, avoiding size_t overflow on 32-bit.

When perf_env__insert_bpf_prog_info() returns false (duplicate
program), the error path frees info_linear and info_node but not
info_node->metadata. If bpf_metadata_create() had succeeded, the
metadata allocation is permanently leaked.

freeing info_node. bpf_metadata_free() handles NULL, so this is
safe even when bpf_metadata_create() returned NULL.

synthesize_bpf_prog_name() calls btf__type_by_id() and immediately
dereferences the result via t->name_off without checking for NULL.
btf__type_by_id() returns NULL when the type_id is invalid or out

mount_overload() builds an environment variable name like
"PERF_SYSFS_ENVIRONMENT" from fs->name. Two bugs:
1) snprintf() uses name_len as the buffer size instead of sizeof(upper_name).
For fs->name = "sysfs" (len=5), the output is truncated to "PERF" (4
chars + null), so getenv() never finds the intended variable.
2) mem_toupper() only uppercases name_len bytes, converting just the "PERF"
prefix rather than the full string including the filesystem name portion.
Fix by using sizeof(upper_name) for snprintf and strlen(upper_name) for
mem_toupper, so the full "PERF_SYSFS_ENVIRONMENT" string is correctly
formatted and uppercased.

filename__write_int() formats an integer into a 64-byte buffer with
sprintf() then passes sizeof(buf) (64) as the write length. This

hwmon_pmu__read_events() reads label files with read() into a stack
buffer, strips trailing newlines, then checks buf[0] == '\0'. When
read() returns 0 (empty file) or -1 (error), the buffer is never
written, so buf[0] reads uninitialized stack memory. If the garbage
byte is non-zero, the code falls through to strdup(buf) which copies
arbitrary stack data as the label string.

filename__decompress()
filename__decompress() has an early return path for files that are not
actually compressed. This path returns the fd from open() directly but
never writes to the pathname output parameter, leaving the caller with
an uninitialized buffer despite a successful return.
Callers like dso__decompress_kmodule_path() pass pathname to
decompress_kmodule() which uses it to set the decompressed file path.
If pathname is uninitialized, subsequent operations on the path produce
undefined behavior.
Fix by setting pathname to an empty string on the uncompressed path.
Callers already check for an empty pathname to distinguish temporary
decompressed files (which need unlink) from the original file.

When sysfs__read_build_id() matches NT_GNU_BUILD_ID with the right
namesz but the name content is not "GNU", it falls back to reading
descsz bytes into the stack buffer bf[BUFSIZ]:
} else if (read(fd, bf, descsz) != (ssize_t)descsz)
Unlike the else branch which validates namesz + descsz against
sizeof(bf), this path passes descsz directly to read() without any
bounds check. A crafted sysfs file with a large n_descsz overflows
the 8192-byte stack buffer.
Add a descsz > sizeof(bf) check before the read, breaking out of
the loop on oversized values.
