Pull MM updates from Andrew Morton:
- "selftests/mm: clean up build output and verbosity" (Li Wang)
Remove some noise from the MM selftests build
- "mm: Free contiguous order-0 pages efficiently" (Ryan Roberts)
Speed up the freeing of a batch of 0-order pages by first scanning
them for coalescing opportunities. This is applicable to vfree() and
to the releasing of frozen pages
- "mm/damon: introduce DAMOS failed region quota charge ratio"
(SeongJae Park)
Address a DAMOS usability issue: The DAMOS quota often exhausts
prematurely because it charges for all memory attempted, causing slow
and inconsistent performance when actions fail on unreclaimable
memory.
To fix this, a new feature lets users set a smaller, flexible quota
charge ratio (via a numerator and denominator) for failed regions.
Since failed actions cause less overhead, reducing their quota cost
ensures more predictable and efficient DAMOS processing
- "selftests/cgroup: improve zswap tests robustness and support large
page sizes" (Li Wang)
Fix various spurious failures and improves the overall robustness of
the cgroup zswap selftests
- "fix MAP_DROPPABLE not supported errno" (Anthony Yznaga)
Fix an issue in the mlock selftests on arm32
- "mm: huge_memory: clean up defrag sysfs with shared" (Breno Leitao)
Some maintenance work in the huge_memory code
- "treewide: fixup gfp_t printks" (Brendan Jackman)
Use the special vprintf() gfp_t conversion in various places
- "mm: Fix vmemmap optimization accounting and initialization" (Muchun
Song)
Fix several bugs in the vmemmap optimization, mainly around incorrect
page accounting and memmap initialization in the DAX and memory
hotplug paths. It also fixes pageblock migratetype initialization and
struct page initialization for ZONE_DEVICE compound pages
- "mm/damon: repost non-hotfix reviewed patches in damon/next tree"
A sprinkle of unrelated minor bugfixes for DAMON
- "mm: remove page_mapped()" (David Hildenbrand)
Remove this function from the tree, replacing it with folio_mapped()
- "mm/damon: let DAMON be paused and resumed" (SeongJae Park)
Allow DAMON to be paused and resumed without losing its current state
- "kasan: hw_tags: Disable tagging for stack and page-tables" (Muhammad
Usama Anjum)
Simplify and speed up kasan by removing its ineffective tagging of
stacks and page tables
- "mm/damon/reclaim,lru_sort: monitor all system rams by default"
(SeongJae Park)
Simplify deployment on diverse hardware like NUMA systems by updating
DAMON_RECLAIM and DAMON_LRU_SORT to automatically monitor the
physical address range covering all System RAM areas by default,
replacing the overly restrictive behavior that only targeted the
single largest memory block to save on negligible overhead
- "mm/damon/sysfs: document filters/ directory as deprecated" (SeongJae
Park)
Update some DAMON docs
- "mm: use spinlock guards for zone lock" (Dmitry Ilvokhin)
Switch zone->lock handling over to using the guard() mechanisms
- "mm/filemap: tighten mmap_miss hit accounting" (fujunjie)
Fix a flaw where the mmap_miss counter over-credited page cache hits
during fault-arounds and page-fault retries. This results in
significant reduction of redundant synchronous mmap readahead I/O,
drastically cutting down execution time and gigabytes read for sparse
random or strided memory access workloads
- "selftests/cgroup: Fix false positive failures in test_percpu_basic"
(Li Wang)
Fix a couple of false-positives in the cgroup kmem selftests
- "mm/damon/reclaim: support monitoring intervals auto-tuning"
(SeongJae Park)
Add a new parameter to DAMON permitting DAMON_RECLAIM to
automatically tune DAMON's sampling and aggregation intervals
- "mm/damon/stat: add kdamond_pid parameter" (SeongJae Park)
Change DAMON_STAT to provide the pid of its kdamond
- "mm/kmemleak: dedupe verbose scan output" (Breno Leitao)
Remove large amounts of duplicated backtraces from the verbose-mode
kmemleak output
- "mm: remove CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE (Part 1)" (David
Hildenbrand)
Reduce our use of CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE, with a view to
removing it entirely in a later series
- "mm/damon: validate min_region_size to be power of 2" (Liew Rui Yan)
Prevent users from passing a non-power-of-2 value of `addr_unit', as
this later results in undesirable behavior
- "mm: document read_pages and simplify usage" (Frederick Mayle)
- "tools/mm/page-types: Fix misc bugs" (Ye Liu)
Fix three issues in tools/mm/page-types.c
- "mm: misc cleanups from __GFP_UNMAPPED series" (Brendan Jackman)
Implement several cleanups in the page allocator and related code
- "mm, swap: swap table phase IV: unify allocation" (Kairui Song)
Unify the allocation and charging of anon and shmem swap in folios,
provides better synchronization, consolidates the metadata
management, hence dropping the static array and map, and improves
performance
- "mm/damon: introduce data attributes monitoring" (SeongJae Park(
Extend DAMON to monitor general data attributes other than accesses
- "mm/vmalloc: free unused pages on vrealloc() shrink" (Shivam Kalra)
Implement the TODO in vrealloc() to unmap and free unused pages when
shrinking across a page boundary
- "mm/damon: documentation and comment fixes" (niecheng)
- "remove mmap_action success, error hooks" (Lorenzo Stoakes)
Eliminate custom hooks from mmap_action by removing the problematic
success_hook which allowed drivers to improperly access uninitialized
VMAs. It replaces the error_hook with a simple error-code field and
updates the memory char driver accordingly
- "mm/damon: minor improvements for code readability and tests"
(SeongJae Park)
- "mm/damon: fix macro arguments and clarify quota goals doc" (Maksym
Shcherba)
- "userfaultfd: merge fs/userfaultfd.c into mm/userfaultfd.c" (Mike
Rapoport)
- "mm/mglru: improve reclaim loop and dirty folio" (Kairui Song and
others)
Clean up and slightly improves MGLRU's reclaim loop and dirty
writeback handling. Large performance improvements are measured
- "use vma locks for proc/pid/{smaps|numa_maps} reads" (Suren
Baghdasaryan)
Use per-vma locks when reading /proc/pid/smaps and numa_maps similar
to reduce contention on central mmap_lock
- "refactors thpsize_shmem_enabled_store() and thpsize_shmem_enabled_show()"
(Ran Xiaokai)
Some cleanup work in the THP code
- "selftests/memfd: fix compilation warnings" (Konstantin Khorenko)
Fix a few build glitches in the memfd selftest code.
- "memcg: shrink obj_stock_pcp and cache multiple objcgs" (Shakeel
Butt)
Resolve a 68% performance regression caused by NUMA-node cache
thrashing around struct obj_stock_pcp by shrinking its existing
fields and expanding it into a multi-slot array that caches up to
five obj_cgroup pointers per CPU, allowing per-node variants of the
same memcg to coexist within a single 64-byte cache line.
- "zram: writeback fixes" (Sergey Senozhatsky)
address a couple of unrelated zram writeback issues
- "mm: switch THP shrinker to list_lru" (Johannes Weiner)
Resolve NUMA-awareness issues and streamlines callsite interaction by
refactoring and extending the list_lru API to completely replace the
complex, open-coded deferred split queue for Transparent Huge Pages
- "mm: improve large folio readahead for exec memory" (Usama Arif)
Improve large-folio readahead on systems like 64K-page arm64 by
preventing the mmap_miss check from permanently disabling
target-oriented VM_EXEC readahead, and by generalizing the
force_thp_readahead gate to support mappings with any usefully large
maximum folio order under the cache cap.
- "userfaultfd/pagemap: pre-existing fixes" (Kiryl Shutsemau)
Fix a bunch of minor issues in the userfaultfd/pagemap, all of which
were flagged by Sashiko review of proposed new material
- "mm/sparse-vmemmap: Provide generic vmemmap_set_pmd() and
vmemmap_check_pmd()" (Muchun Song)
Provide generic versions of these two functions so the four
arch-specific implementations can be removed.
- "mm/swap, PM: hibernate: fix swapoff race in uswsusp by pinning swap

Pull kvm updates from Paolo Bonzini:
"arm64:
This is a bit of an odd merge window on the KVM/arm64 front. There
is absolutely no new feature in the pull request. It is purely
fixes, because it is simply becoming too hard to review new stuff
when so many AI-fuelled fixes hit the list.
- Significant cleanup of the vgic-v5 PPI support which was merged in
7.1. This makes the code more maintainable, and squashes a couple
of bugs in the meantime
- Set of fixes for the handling of the MMU in an NV context,
particularly VNCR-triggered faults. S1POE support is fixed as well
- Large set of pKVM fixes, mostly addressing recurring issues around
hypervisor tracking of donated pages in obscure cases where the
donation could fail and leave things in a bizarre state
- Fixes for the so-called "lazy vgic init", which resulted in
sleeping operations in non-preemptible sections. This turned out to
be far more invasive than initially expected..
- Reduce the overhead of L1/L2 context switch by not touching the FP
registers
- Fix the way non-implemented page sizes are dealt with when a guest
insist on using them for S2 translation
- The usual set of low-impact fixes and cleanups all over the map
Loongarch:
- On a request for lazy FPU load, load all FPU state that the VM
supports instead of enabling only the part (FPU, LSX or LASX) that
caused the FPU load request
- Some enhancements about interrupt injection
- Some bug fixes and other small changes
RISC-V:
- Batch G-stage TLB flushes for GPA range based page table updates
- Convert HGEI line management to fully per-HART
- Fix missing CSR dirty marking when FWFT state updated via ONE_REG
- Fix stale FWFT feature exposure to Guest/VM
- Speed up dirty logging write faults using MMU rwlock and atomic PTE
updates using cmpxchg() for permission-only changes
- Use flexible array for APLIC IRQ state
- Use kvm_slot_dirty_track_enabled() for logging enable check on a
memslot
- Avoid skipping valid pages in kvm_riscv_gstage_wp_range()
- Avoid skipping valid pages in kvm_riscv_gstage_unmap_range()
- Use endian-specific __lelong for NACL shared memory
S390:
- KVM_PRE_FAULT_MEMORY support
- Support for 2G hugepages
- Support for the ASTFLEIE 2 facility
- Support for fast inject using kvm_arch_set_irq_inatomic
- Fix potential leak of uninitialized bytes
- A few more misc gmap fixes
x86:
- Generic support for the more granular permissions allowed by EPT,
namely "read" (which was previously usurping the U bit) and
separate execution bits for kernel and userspace
- Do not assume that all page tables start with U=1/W=1/NX=0 at the
root, as AMD GMET needs to have U=0 at the root
- Introduce common assembly macros for use within Intel and AMD
vendor-specific vmentry code. This touches the SPEC_CTRL handling,
which is now entirely done in assembly for Intel (by reusing the
AMD code that already existed), and register save/restore which
uses some macro magic to compute the offsets in the struct. Both of
these are preparatory changes for upcoming APX support
- Clean up KVM's register tracking and storage, primarily to prepare
for APX support, which expands the maximum number of GPRs from 16
to 32
- Keep a single copy of the PDPTRs rather than two, since
architecturally there is just one
- Handle EXIT_FASTPATH_EXIT_USERSPACE in vendor code to ensure vendor
code gets a chance to handle things like reaping the PML buffer
- Update KVM's view of PV async enabling if and only if the MSR write
fully succeeds
- Fix a variety of issues where the emulator doesn't honor
guest-debug state, and clean up related code along the way
- Synthesize EPT Violation and #NPF "error code" bits when injecting
faults into L1 that didn't originate in hardware (in which case the
VMCS/VMCB doesn't hold relevant information)
- Add support for virtualizing (well, emulating) AMD's flavor of
CPL>0 CPUID faulting
- Clean up the GPR APIs so that KVM's use of "raw" is consistent, and
fix a variety of minor bugs along the way
- Fix an OOB memory access due to not checking the VP ID when
handling a Hyper-V PV TLB flush for L2
- Fix a bug in the mediated PMU's handling of fixed counters that
allowed the guest to bypass the PMU event filter
- Allow userspace to return EAGAIN when handling SNP and TDX
hypercalls, so the KVM can forward a "retry" status code to the
guest, and reserve all unused error codes for future usage
- Overhaul the TDP MMU => S-EPT code to move as much S-EPT specific
logic as possible into the TDX code, and to funnel (almost) all
S-EPT updates into a single chokepoint. The motivation is largely
to prepare for upcoming Dynamic PAMT support, but the cleanups are
nice to have on their own
- Plug a hole in shadow page table handling, where KVM fails to
recursively zap nested EPT/NPT shadow page tables when the nested
hypervisor tears down its own EPT/NPT page tables from the bottom
up
x86 (Intel):
- Support for nested MBEC (Mode-Based Execute Control), see above in
the generic section; also run with MBEC enabled even for non-nested
mode
- Use the kernel's "enum pg_level" in the TDX APIs instead of the
TDX-Module's level definitions (which are 0-based)
- Rework the TDX memory APIs to not require/assume that guest memory
is backed by "struct page" (in prepartion for guest_memfd hugepage
support)
- Fix a largely benign bug where KVM TDX would incorrectly state it
could emulate several x2APIC MSRs
- Use the "safe" WRMSR API when proxying LBR MSR writes as the
to-be-written value is guest controlled and completely unvalidated
x86 (AMD):
- Support for nested GMET (Guest Mode Execution Trap), see above in
the generic section; also run with GMET enabled even for non-nested
mode
- Fixes and minor cleanups to GHCB handling, on top of the earlier
work already merged into 7.1-rc
- Ensure KVM's copy of CR0 and CR3 are up-to-date prior to invoking
fastpath handlers
- Add support for virtualizing gPAT (KVM previously just used L1's
PAT when running L2)
- Fix goofs where KVM mishandles side effects (e.g. single-step and
PMC updates) when emulating VMRUN
- Fix a variety of bugs in AVIC's handling of x2APIC MSR
interception, most notably where KVM didn't disable interception of
IRR, ISR, and TMR regs
- Add support for virtualizing Host-Only/Guest-Only bits in the
mediated PMU
- Don't advertise support for unusable VM types, and account for VM
types that are disabled by firmware, e.g. to mitigate security
vulnerabilities
- Rewrite the SEV {en,de}crypt debug ioctls as they were riddle with
bugs and unnecessarily complicated, and add comprehensive tests
- Clean up and deduplicate the SEV page pinning code
- Fix minor goofs related to writing back CPUID information after
firmware rejects a CPUID page for an SNP vCPU
Generic:
- Rename invalidate_begin() to invalidate_start() throughout KVM to
follow the kernel's nomenclature, e.g. for mmu_notifiers
- Use guard() to cleanup up various KVM+VFIO flows
- Minor cleanups
guest_memfd:
- Return -EEXIST instead of -EINVAL if userspace attempts to bind a
gmem range to multiple memslots, and fix the test that was supposed
to ensure KVM returns -EEXIST
- Treat memslot binding offsets and sizes as unsigned values to fix a
bug where KVM interprets a large "offset + size" as a negative
value and allows a nonsensical offset
- Use the inode number instead of the page offset for the NUMA
interleaving index to fix a bug where the effective index would
jump by two for consecutive pages (the caller also adds in the page
offset)
Selftests:
- Randomize the dirty log test's delay when reaping the bitmap on the
first pass, as always waiting only 1ms hid a KVM RISC-V bug as the
test reaped the bitmap before KVM could build up enough state to
hit the bug
- A pile of one-off fixes and cleanups"

Fix nf_flow_ip6_tunnel_proto() to use pskb_may_pull() instead of
skb_header_pointer() to ensure the outer IPv6 header is in the skb
headroom, which is required for subsequent packet processing. Move
ctx->offset update inside the IPPROTO_IPV6 conditional block since it
should only be adjusted when an IP6IP6 tunnel is actually detected.
Simplify the rx path by removing ipv6_skip_exthdr() and checking
ip6h->nexthdr directly, as the flowtable fast path only handles simple
IP6IP6 encapsulation without extension headers.
Drop the tunnel encapsulation limit destination option support from the
tx path to match, since the rx path no longer handles extension headers.
Remove the encap_limit parameter from nf_flow_offload_ipv6_forward(),
nf_flow_tunnel_ip6ip6_push() and nf_flow_tunnel_v6_push(), along with
the ipv6_tel_txoption struct and related headroom/MTU adjustments.

Pull RISC-V updates from Paul Walmsley:
- Prevent get_free_mem_region() from returning regions that are
unmappable in certain circumstances by defining
DIRECT_MAP_PHYSMEM_END for RISC-V
- Fix an early boot problem with kexec_file when the amount of
installed physical memory installed on the system exceeds the direct
map size, which is possible in certain RISC-V virtual memory modes
- Unconditionally sfence.vma in the new vmalloc area handling code in
the page fault handler, since even the presence of Svvptc doesn't
guarantee that the CPU won't immediately fault again after the
exception handler completes and subsequently crash
- Fix ftrace_graph_ret_addr() to use the correct task pointer (aligning
with what other architectures do)
- Fix the misaligned access performance checking code in cases when
performance is specified on the kernel command line and when CPUs
have been brought offline and back online
- Get rid of a bogus address offset in the non-frame-pointer version of
walk_stackframe(), aligning it with the frame pointer-based code
- Fix a RISC-V kfence issue causing bogus use-after-free warnings
- Add ARCH_HAS_CC_CAN_LINK for RISC-V, which needs different compiler
command line flags than other architectures
- Implement _THIS_IP_ using RISC-V-specific assembly, which seems to be
less brittle (from a compiler point of view) than taking the address
of a label
- Reduce kernel startup overhead by defining
HAVE_BUILDTIME_MCOUNT_SORT, since arch/riscv meets all the
requirements
- Patch the CFI vDSO during alternatives processing, not only the
standard vDSO
- Fix a potential memory leak in the cacheinfo code
- Clean up kernel/setup.c:add_resource() to pass along the return value
from insert_resource() and to improve the display of resource ranges
- Clean up our purgatory.[ch] by aligning our purgatory() prototype to
what's in arch/x86, and by cleaning up verify_sha256_digest()
- Clean up cpu_is_stopped() to align its function a little more closely
to its name
- Replace some unbounded string function usage in get_early_cmdline()
and the ptdump code with strscpy()
- Replace sprintf() with sysfs_emit() in cpu_show_ghostwrite() for
safer bounds checking
- Standardize how compiler output flags are specified in the RISC-V
kselftests, aligning them with what other architectures do
- Use the Linux-generic cmp_int() macro in place of an open-coded
"cmp_3way()" macro in kernel/module-sections.c
- Panic early in boot if IRQ handler stacks can't be allocated rather
than pretending to continue normally
- Add support for Eswin SoCs in the RISC-V defconfig
- Remove some unnecessary conditionals in sbi_hsm_hart_{start,stop}()
- Clean up some Kconfig infelicities found by Kconfirm
- Replace an open-coded version of min() in the kexec_elf code with
the standard min() function

check_operstate() busy waits for up to one second for the operational
state to change to the expected state. This is not enough since carrier
loss events can be delayed by the kernel for up to one second (see
__linkwatch_run_queue()), leading to sporadic failures.
Fix by increasing the busy wait period to two seconds.

Add a selftest to verify KVM correctly virtualizes the AMD PMU Host-Only
(bit 41) and Guest-Only (bit 40) event selector bits across all relevant
SVM state transitions.
The test programs 4 PMCs simultaneously with all combinations of the
Host-Only and Guest-Only bits, then verifies correct counting behavior
with EFER.SVME clear and set, as well as in host mode and guest mode.
The test also verifies that updating Host-Only / Guest-Only bits for a
PMC works as intended, and that event filtering is still respected.

Now that a dedicated page is allocated for L2's stack and stuffed in

Instead of relying on the L1-provided stack for L2, which is usually an
array on L1's own stack, allocate a dedicated page of VM memory for the
L2 stack in vcpu_alloc_{vmx/svm}() and use that as L2's RSP in the
VMCS/VMCB instead of the L1-provided value.
Most L1 guest code does not do anything with the L2 stack other than
stuff it in RSP, so this change is transparent and the L1-provided stack
is silently ignored. The only exception is memstress nested L1 code
which puts the vCPU index on L2's stack, so update this code to use the
newly allocated stack.
L1-provided stacks will be dropped and cleaned up separately.

On ARM64 kernels with 64K pages, the trace_marker_raw test fails because
bash's printf builtin uses stdio buffering which splits output into
multiple small write() calls to the tracefs file. Since each individual
write is within TRACE_MARKER_MAX_SIZE (4096), they all succeed, causing
the "too big" write test to incorrectly pass.
Fix by writing through dd with iflag=fullblock to guarantee a single
atomic write() syscall to trace_marker_raw.

The kselftests case uevent.uevent_filtering fails reproducibly on busy
systems (e.g. Intel EMR / AMD servers) with:
No buffer space available - Failed to receive uevent
The listener binds the NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT socket to all 32 multicast
groups (nl_groups = -1) but only sets SO_RCVBUF to 4 KiB
(__UEVENT_BUFFER_SIZE = 2048 * 2). On hosts with many devices, the kernel
and userspace daemons (udev/systemd) constantly emit uevents on multiple
groups, plus the test itself triggers 10 add events in a row. The 4 KiB
receive buffer overflows before the listener can drain it, recvmsg()
returns -ENOBUFS, and the test bails out as failure.
Increase __UEVENT_BUFFER_SIZE to 1 MiB so the receive buffer is large
enough to absorb the burst of uevents on busy systems. After this change
the test passes consistently across dozens of runs on Intel EMR and AMD
platforms.

test_ownership.tc is sourced by ftracetest under /bin/sh.
The script currently declares mount_point with local at file scope,
which makes /bin/sh abort with "local: not in a function" before the
test can reach the eventfs ownership checks.
Replace the top-level local declaration with a normal shell variable so
kernels that support the gid= tracefs mount option can run the test at
all.

Multiple runtime tests in RTLA rely on the get_workload_pids() shell
helper function to get the PIDs of both kernel and user workloads.
On some systems (e.g. Fedora 43), pgrep matches kernel thread names
including square brackets: "[osnoise/0]"; on other systems (e.g.
RHEL 9.8), brackets are not included: "osnoise/0".
Accept both as valid workload PIDs rather that just the non-bracket form
to make the tests work on all systems.

.gitignore includes several entries prone to unwanted matches in
subdirectories. One of them, the recently added "lib/", matches the
recently added directory "tests/scripts/lib/" in addition to the
intended top-level "lib/", which contains object files built from
sources in tools/lib.
Add "/" to all .gitignore entries that are intended to only match
top-level files or directories: rtla, rtla_static, unit_tests,
libsubcmd/.
Remove .gitignore entries that are not needed at all:
- lib/ (contains only object files, ignored by top-level .gitignore
already).
- .txt rtla output files added to .gitignore in commit 02689ae385c5
("rtla: Add generated output files to gitignore"). Since commit
ad5b50a0959f ("rtla/tests: Run runtime tests in temporary directory"),
those are created in a temporary directory, not in tools/tracing/rtla.
Keeping libsubcmd/ as that contains other generated files (headers,

dso__get_filename() sets errno to a negative custom DSO_LOAD_ERRNO
value when kernel module decompression fails:
errno = *dso__load_errno(dso); /* e.g. -9996 */
The caller __open_dso() then computes fd = -errno, producing a large
positive value (9996) that looks like a valid file descriptor. This
can cause close_data_fd() to close an unrelated fd used by another
subsystem.
Set errno to EIO instead. The detailed error code is already stored
in dso__load_errno(dso) for diagnostic messages.

A crafted perf.data can leave these bits unset while setting non-zero
counts and offset values, causing the functions to dereference raw file
offsets as pointers.
Add array bitmask validation to all perf.data processing paths:
- __bpf_event__print_bpf_prog_info(): check JITED_KSYMS and
JITED_FUNC_LENS (changed to take struct perf_bpil *)
- machine__process_bpf_event_load(): check JITED_KSYMS
- bpf_read(): check JITED_INSNS before memcpy from jited_prog_insns
- dso__disassemble_filename(): check JITED_INSNS before returning
jited_prog_insns pointer

c2c_he_free() calls hists__delete_entries() which only walks the
output-sorted entries tree. During c2c resort, when cacheline entries
are merged and the redundant entry is freed, the inner hists have not
been output-resorted yet, so hists->entries is empty. The actual inner
hist_entry objects live in entries_in_array[] and entries_collapsed,
which are never walked, leaking all inner hist_entry objects for every
merged cacheline.
Additionally, the dynamically allocated format entries on hists->list
are never unregistered or freed.
Fix both issues by switching to hists__delete_all_entries() which walks
all rb_root trees, and calling perf_hpp__reset_output_field() to clean
up format entries.

When c2c_hists__init() fails partway through hpp_list__parse(),
dynamically allocated format structures that were already added to
hists->list are leaked because he__get_c2c_hists() frees the hists
container without first unregistering the format entries.
Call perf_hpp__reset_output_field() before freeing the hists container
on the error path, matching what c2c_he_free() already does on the
normal destruction path.

cs_etm__get_queue() indexes etm->queues.queue_array[cpu] without
validating that cpu is within nr_queues. When processing
AUX_OUTPUT_HW_ID events, the cpu value comes from untrusted perf.data
trace payload and flows through cs_etm__process_trace_id_v0_1() and
cs_etm__queue_aux_fragment() without bounds checking, allowing an
out-of-bounds read with a crafted file.
Add a bounds check in cs_etm__get_queue() and NULL checks in all
callers.
Also add NULL checks for queue_array[i].priv in the queue iteration
loops in cs_etm__map_trace_id_v0() and cs_etm__process_trace_id_v0_1()
— after auxtrace_queues__grow() new entries are zero-initialized so
.priv can be NULL. Add a get_cpu_data() NULL check in
cs_etm__process_trace_id_v0_1(), matching the existing check in
cs_etm__process_trace_id_v0().

cs_etm__process_auxtrace_info() checks that header.size covers
event_header_size + INFO_HEADER_SIZE (16 bytes total), but then
accesses ptr[CS_PMU_TYPE_CPUS] at offset 24 from the start of the
event. A crafted 16-byte auxtrace_info event passes the size check
but reads out-of-bounds.
Include CS_ETM_HEADER_SIZE in the minimum size check so that the
global header entries (version, pmu_type_cpus, snapshot) are
guaranteed to fit within the event.

cs_etm__process_auxtrace_info_full() reads num_cpu from untrusted
perf.data and uses it to allocate the metadata pointer array:
metadata = zalloc(sizeof(*metadata) * num_cpu);
On 32-bit, sizeof(*metadata) is 4, so num_cpu = 0x40000000 overflows
the multiplication to 0, causing zalloc(0) to return a valid zero-sized
allocation followed by out-of-bounds writes in the population loop.
Fix by computing priv_size early and using it to bound num_cpu: each
CPU needs at least one u64 metadata entry, so num_cpu cannot exceed
the total number of u64 entries in the event's private data area.

machines__findnew() and machines__create_guest_kernel_maps() use
sprintf() to build paths by prepending symbol_conf.guestmount.
Both write into PATH_MAX stack buffers, but guestmount comes from
user configuration and is not length-checked. A guestmount path
at or near PATH_MAX causes a stack buffer overflow.
Switch to snprintf() with sizeof() to prevent overflow. The
subsequent access()/fopen() calls will fail on a truncated path.

machine__init() always returns 0 even when memory allocation fails,
because commit 81f981d7ec43ed93 ("perf machine: Free root_dir in
machine__init() error path") introduced 'int err = -ENOMEM' and an
error cleanup path but left the final 'return 0' instead of
'return err'.
Fix by returning err, check the return value in __machine__new_host()
which was ignoring it, and change machines__init() from void to int so
it too can propagate the error to perf_session__new(), aslr_tool__init()
and test callers.
The error cleanup also used zfree(&machine->kmaps), but kmaps is a
refcounted maps structure — use maps__zput() to properly drop the
reference, matching machine__exit().
Move dsos__init() and threads__init() before the first fallible
allocation (maps__new) so that machine__exit() is safe to call on
any machine struct that machine__init() touched, even on early failure.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tj/sched_ext
Pull sched_ext updates from Tejun Heo:
"Most of this continues the in-development sub-scheduler support, which
lets a root BPF scheduler delegate to nested sub-schedulers. The
dispatch-path building blocks landed in 7.1. A follow-up patchset in
development will complete enqueue-path support for hierarchical
scheduling. This cycle adds most of that infrastructure:
- Topological CPU IDs (cids): a dense, topology-ordered CPU numbering
where the CPUs of a core, LLC, or NUMA node form contiguous ranges,
so a topology unit becomes a (start, length) slice. Raw CPU numbers
are sparse and don't track topological closeness, which makes them
clumsy for sharding work across sub-schedulers and awkward in BPF.
- cmask: bitmaps windowed over a slice of cid space, so a
sub-scheduler can track, for example, the idle cids of its shard
without a full NR_CPUS cpumask.
- A struct_ops variant that cid-form sub-schedulers register with,
along with the cid-form kfuncs they call.
- BPF arena integration, which sub-scheduler support is built on. The
bpf-next additions let the kernel read and write the BPF
scheduler's arena directly, turning it into a real kernel/BPF
shared-memory channel. Shared state like the per-CPU cmask now
lives there.
- scx_qmap is reworked to exercise the new arena and cid interfaces.
Additionally:
- Exit-dump improvements: dump the faulting CPU first, expose the
exit CPU to BPF and userspace, and normalize the dump header.
- Misc kfuncs and cleanups: a task-ID lookup kfunc, __printf checking
on the error and dump formatters, header reorganization, and
assorted fixes"

depopulated, so a css is not taken offline while tasks can still
reference it. Disabling a controller through cgroup.subtree_control

- New RDMA controller monitoring files: rdma.peak for per-device peak
usage and rdma.events / rdma.events.local for resource-limit
exhaustion. The max-limit parser was rewritten, fixing two input
parsing bugs.
- cpuset: fix a sched-domain leak on the domain-rebuild failure path

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next
Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
"Core & protocols:
- Work on removing rtnl_lock protection throughout the stack
continues. In this chapter:
- don't use rtnl_lock for IPv6 multicast routing configuration
- don't take rtnl_lock in ethtool for modern drivers
- prepare Qdisc dump callbacks for rtnl_lock removal
- Support dumping just ifindex + name of all interfaces, under RCU.
It's a common operation for Netlink CLI tools (when translating
names to ifindexes) and previously required full rtnl_lock.
- Support dumping qdiscs and page pools for a specific netdev. Even
tho user space wants a dump of all netdevs, most of the time, the
OOO programming model results in repeating the dump for each
netdev. Which, in absence of a cache, leads to a O(n^2) behavior.
- Flush nexthops once on multi-nexthop removal (e.g. when device goes
down), another O(n^2) -> O(n) improvement.
- Rehash locally generated traffic to a different nexthop on
retransmit timeout.
- Honor oif when choosing nexthop for locally generated IPv6 traffic.
- Convert TCP Auth Option to crypto library, and drop non-RFC algos.
- Increase subflow limits in MPTCP to 64 and endpoint limit to 256.
- Support MPTCP signaling of IPv6 address + port (ADD_ADDR). We need
to selectively skip reporting of the standard TCP Timestamp option,
because they won't fit into the header space together (12 + 30 >
40).
- Support using bridge neighbor suppression, Duplicate Address
Detection, Gratuitous ARP and unsolicited NA forwarding - in EVPN
deployments, e.g. VXLAN fabrics (IPv4 and IPv6).
- Improve link state reporting for upper netdevs (e.g. macvlan) over
tunnel devices (again, mostly for EVPN deployments).
- Support binding GENEVE tunnels to a local address.
- Speed up UDP tunnel destruction (remove one synchronize_rcu()).
- Support exponential field encoding in multicast (IGMPv3 and MLDv2).
- Support attaching PSP crypto offload to containers (veth, netkit).
- Add a new IPSec Netlink message XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE_STATE that allows
migrating individual IPsec SAs independently of their policies.
The existing XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE is tightly coupled to policy+SA
migration, lacks SPI for unique SA identification, and cannot
express reqid changes or migrate Transport mode selectors.
The new interface identifies the SA via SPI and mark, supports
reqid changes, address family changes, encap removal, and uses an
atomic create+install flow under x->lock to prevent SN/IV reuse
during AEAD SA migration.
- Implement GRO/GSO support for PPPoE.
- Convert sockopt callbacks in a number of protocols to iov_iter.
Cross-tree stuff:
- Remove support for Crypto TFM cloning (unblocked after the TCP Auth
Option rework). This feature regressed performance for all crypto
API users, since it changed crypto transformation objects into
reference-counted objects.
- Add FCrypt-PCBC implementation to rxrpc and remove it from the
global crypto API as obsolete and insecure.
Wireless:
- Major rework of station bandwidth handling, fixing issues with
lower capability than AP.
- Cleanups for EMLSR spec issues (drafts differed).
- More Neighbor Awareness Networking (Wi-Fi Aware) work (multicast,
schedule improvements, multi-station etc.)
- Some Ultra High Reliability (UHR) / IEEE 802.11bn (D1.4) work
(e.g. non-primary channel access, UHR DBE support).
- Fine Timing Measurement ranging (i.e. distance measurement) APIs.
Netfilter:
- Use per-rule hash initval in nf_conncount. This avoids unnecessary
lock contention with short keys (e.g. conntrack zones) in different
namespaces.
- Various safety improvements, both in packet parsing and object
lifetimes. Notably add refcounts to conntrack timeout policy.
Deletions:
- Remove TLS + sockmap integration. TLS wants to pin user pages to
avoid a copy, and sockmap wants to write to the input stream. More
work on this integration is clearly needed, and we can't find any
users (original author admitted that they never deployed it).
- Remove support for TLS offload with TCP Offload Engine (the far
more common opportunistic offload is retained). The locking looks
unfixable (driver sleeps under TCP spin locks) and people from the
vendor that added this are AWOL.
- Remove more ATM code, trying to leave behind only what PPPoATM
needs, AAL5 and br2684 with permanent circuits.
- Remove AppleTalk. Let it join hamradio in our out of tree protocol
graveyard, I mean, repository.
- Disable 32-bit x_tables compatibility (32bit binaries on 64bit
kernel) interface in user namespaces. To be deleted completely,
soon.
- Remove 5/10 MHz support from cfg80211/mac80211.
Drivers:
- Software:
- Support DEVMEM/DMABUF Tx over NETMEM_TX_NO_DMA devices (netkit)
- bonding: add knob to strictly follow 802.3ad for link state
- New drivers:
- Alibaba Elastic Ethernet Adaptor (cloud vNIC).
- NXP NETC switch within i.MX94.
- DPLL:
- Add operational state to pins (implement in zl3073x).
- Add generic DPLL type, for daisy-chaining DPLLs (implement in ice).
- Ethernet high-speed NICs:
- Huawei (hinic3):
- enhance tc flow offload support with queue selection,
tunnels
- nVidia/Mellanox:
- avoid over-copying payload to the skb's linear part (up to
60% win for LRO on slow CPUs like ARM64 V2)
- expose more per-queue stats over the standard API
- support additional, unprivileged PFs in the DPU
configuration
- support Socket Direct (multi-PF) with switchdev offloads
- add a pool / frag allocator for DMA mapped buffers for
control objects, save memory on systems with 64kB page size
- take advantage of the ability to dynamically change RSS
table size, even when table is configured by the user
- increase the max RSS table size for even traffic
distribution

TLS and sockmap are mutually exclusive. We already have a test
for the sockmap side rejecting kTLS, add the inverse test matching
patch 1 of this series.

With the sockmap + kTLS tests gone, the BPF-side support in test_sockmap
is dead: the tls_sock_map map and bpf_prog3 (which redirected skbs into
it) are no longer referenced. Remove them, along with the now-unused
bpf_write_pass() helper.
bpf_prog3 was progs[2], so renumber the progs[] users in test_sockmap.c:
the sockops program drops to progs[2] and the sk_msg tx programs to
progs[3..7]. Shrink the map/prog arrays from 9 to 8 and drop the
tls_sock_map entry (the last one) from map_names[] to match.

The combination of sockmap and TLS is no longer supported - installing
the TLS ULP on a sockmap socket (and vice versa) is now rejected. Remove
the tests that exercise the combination along with their BPF program;
the file covered nothing but sockmap sockets holding kTLS contexts.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/trace/linux-trace
Pull RTLA tool updates from Steven Rostedt:
- Fix discrepancy in --dump-tasks option
Due to a mistake, rtla-timerlat-hist used the CLI syntax
"--dump-task" instead of the documented "--dump-tasks". Change the
option to match both documentation and the other timerlat tool,
rtla-timerlat-top.
- Extend coverage of runtime tests
Cover both top and hist tools in all applicable test cases, add tests
for a few uncovered options, and extend checks for some existing
tests.
- Add unit tests for actions
rtla's actions feature is implemented in its source file and contains
non-trivial parsing logic. Cover it with unit tests.
- Stop record trace on interrupt
Fix a bug where an interval exists after receiving a signal in which
the main instance is stopped but the record instance is not, leading
to discrepancies in reported results and sometimes rtla hanging.
- Restore continue flag in actions_perform()
Fix a bug where rtla always continues tracing after hitting a
threshold even if the continue action was triggered just once, and
add tests verifying that the flag is reset properly.
- Migrate command line interface to libsubcmd
Replace rtla's argument parsing using getopt_long() with libsubcmd,
used by perf and objtool, to reuse existing code and auto-generate
better help messages. Extensive unit tests are included to detect
regressions.
- Add -A/--aligned option to timerlat tools
Add an option to align timerlat threads, based on the recently
introduced TIMERLAT_ALIGN option of the timerlat tracer, together
with unit tests and documentation.
- Document tests in README
Document how to run unit and runtime tests in rtla's README.txt,
including the dependencies needed to run them.

Pull bootconfig updates from Masami Hiramatsu:
- bootconfig: move xbc_snprint_cmdline() to lib/bootconfig.c
Move the xbc_snprint_cmdline() function and its buffer from
main.c to the shared lib/bootconfig.c parser library so it
can be reused by userspace tools.
- render kernel.* subtree as cmdline string with -C
Add a new -C option to print the kernel.* subtree as a flat
command-line string at build time, allowing early parameter
injection without runtime parsing.
