Add a 'ti,current-range' string property to configure the device's Current
Limit (CL) behavior to "high" or "low" via the register, overriding the
physical CL pin setting.
This configuration is supported on LM25066, LM5064, LM5066, and LM5066i.
LM25056 is excluded because it does not support configuring the current
limit via the DEVICE_SETUP register (bit 2 of DEVICE_SETUP is reserved).
The values "low" and "high" map to the respective low/high threshold
voltages of the chips:
- LM25066: low = 25 mV, high = 46 mV
- LM5064, LM5066, LM5066i: low = 26 mV, high = 50 mV

With the recently found INVLPGB / TLBSYNC issue, there has been some
interest in disabling INVLPGB-based TLB flushing, in order to rule out
that CPU issue as a cause of userspace crashes.
Add a kernel command line option to control the TLB flushing behavior.
If the need arises, we will add a "tlbi=broadcast" for the case when TLB
invalidation broadcasts need to be explicitly selected, but this is not
needed now yet.

Add a proc4cb-ops nested attribute to the server-stats netlink dump,
reusing the existing server-proc-entry (op/count) layout. The dump
gains a callback section that emits one entry per callback opcode
(OP_CB_GETATTR..OP_CB_OFFLOAD) from the per-netns callback counters,
paged across messages like the other per-operation sections.
This lets nfsstat report NFSv4 backchannel operation counts over
netlink, including CB_GETATTR which corresponds to the procfs
wdeleg_getattr line.

Implement nfsd_nl_server_stats_get_dumpit() which exposes the
NFS server statistics currently available via /proc/net/rpc/nfsd
through the nfsd generic netlink family.
The handler uses a dump operation to stream statistics across one
or more netlink messages. The reply is divided into sections that
are emitted in order:
- scalar stats (reply cache, filehandle, IO, network, RPC),
emitted once in the first message, then
- per-version procedure counts (proc2/3/4-ops) and the NFSv4
per-operation counts (proc4ops-ops), using the per-netns
vs_count arrays.
cb->args[0] tracks the current section and cb->args[1] the entry
index within it, so a section that does not fit in the current
message is closed and resumed in the next one. This matters because
the first dump message is allocated at NLMSG_GOODSIZE (a single page
on most architectures) regardless of the client's receive buffer;
packing every counter into one message would overflow it and fail
the dump with -EMSGSIZE. Userspace merges the attributes from every
message.
This allows nfsstat to retrieve server statistics via netlink
with a procfs fallback for older kernels.

/proc/fs/nfsd/reply_cache_stats has been present since v3.10 but
has no entry in Documentation/ABI/. Add one under testing/ that
documents the current field set, types, and parsing expectations.
This establishes a contract that parsers should match on field
name rather than line position, allowing fields to be added or
removed across kernel versions without breaking well-written
consumers.

The SVC_POOL_AUTO/GLOBAL/PERCPU/PERNODE pool mode selection machinery
was added when NUMA was new and the right default was unclear. The
default has always been "global" (a single pool for the whole service);
the other modes were only used when an admin explicitly set the
pool_mode parameter or asked for "auto", which then picked a mode from
the host topology. Today, pernode is the right choice everywhere:
- On multi-NUMA hosts, it gives one pool per node with proper thread
affinity and NUMA-local memory allocation.
- On single-node hosts, pernode degenerates to exactly one pool,
identical to the old "global" mode -- svc_pool_for_cpu() short-
circuits when sv_nrpools <= 1, no CPU affinity is set, and memory
is allocated from the single node.
The percpu mode (one pool per CPU) created excessive pools relative to
the number of threads most deployments run, and was only auto-selected
in a narrow case (single node, >2 CPUs).
Note that this changes the default behaviour on multi-NUMA hosts: a
service that previously ran with a single global pool now gets one pool
per NUMA node by default. This in turn means a host running fewer
threads than it has NUMA nodes can end up with pools that have no
threads. svc_pool_for_cpu() already falls back to a populated pool in
that case, so transports are still serviced.
Remove the SVC_POOL_* enum, mode selection heuristic,
svc_pool_map_init_percpu(), and all mode-based switch statements.
Simplify pool map functions to always use the pernode path. If pool
map allocation fails, svc_pool_map_get() now returns 0 and service
creation fails, rather than silently falling back to a single global
pool.
With the mode check gone, svc_pool_map_get_node() would dereference the
shared pool_to[] for every service that starts a thread. Only services
created via svc_create_pooled() hold a map reference that keeps that
array allocated, so gate the lookup in svc_new_thread() on sv_is_pooled:
unpooled services (e.g. lockd, the NFS callback) use NUMA_NO_NODE and
never consult the map. The kmalloc_node() callers in
svc_prepare_thread() already accept NUMA_NO_NODE, but __folio_alloc_node()
requires a valid node id, so resolve NUMA_NO_NODE to numa_mem_id() for
the scratch folio allocation.
The module parameter and netlink interfaces are preserved for backward
compatibility:
- Writing any of the four documented mode names still succeeds silently
- Reading always returns "pernode"
- Writing to the module parameter emits a deprecation notice
Update Documentation/admin-guide/kernel-parameters.txt to mark the
pool_mode parameter deprecated and describe the new behaviour.

RFC8881bis adds some new flags to GET_DIR_DELEGATION that later patches
will consume. In particular, Linux nfsd can't easily provide info about
directory cookies and ordering. The new flags allow it to omit that
information.
There is some risk here -- RFC8881bis is still a working group document,
and has been for years. The changes to directory delegations have been
stable for the last year or so however, so the hope is that those parts
won't change (much).

Add the necessary bits to nfs4_1.x and remove the duplicate definitions
from nfs4.h and the uapi nfs4 header. Regenerate the xdr files.
Note that regenerating these files caused conflicts with the definitions
of NFS4_VERIFIER_SIZE and NFS4_FHSIZE in include/uapi/linux/nfs4.h.
These constants are defined by the RFC, and are not part of the kernel
API. They have been removed. Userspace consumers who require those
constants should plan to get them from more authoritative sources.
The nfsstat4 enum defined in the .x is fed to the xdrgen-generated wire
encoder and decoder, which treat every enumerated value as legal on the
wire. Do not carry the NFS4ERR_FIRST_FREE sentinel (which is not a
protocol error code) into the .x; keeping it would make 10097 a value
that could leak onto the wire. Instead base nfsd's internal error codes
(NFSERR_EOF and friends) at an impossible nfsstat4 value, as lockd does
for its nlm__int__* status codes.

DRM Rust changes for v7.3-rc1
- I/O (shared from driver-core tree via signed tag rust-io-7.3-rc1):
- Rework of I/O types: make I/O regions typed (with a
dynamically-sized Region type for the existing untyped case), create
view types representing subregions of a mapped I/O region, and add
io_project!() for safely creating subviews.
- Split Io into a base trait (IoBase) and an extension trait (Io) with
a blanket implementation, preventing implementers from overriding
provided methods that unsafe code relies on.
- Add a SysMem backend for shared system memory with volatile access,
and make Coherent implement Io via an I/O view type. Add copying
methods (memcpy_{from,to}io).
- Replace dma_read!/dma_write! with io_read!/io_write!; drop the old
macros.
- DRM:
- RegistrationGuard and RegistrationData:
- Rework DeviceContext typestates: rename Uninit to Normal, add an
Ioctl context, restrict AlwaysRefCounted to Normal for both Device
and GEM Object, and establish a Deref chain from Registered to
Normal.
- Introduce RegistrationGuard, a guard representing a
drm_dev_enter/exit SRCU critical section that proves the DRM
device is registered, which implies the parent bus device is still
bound.
- Add RegistrationData as a GAT on drm::Driver. The data does not
outlive driver unbind, so it can capture lifetime-annotated device
resources and references. Accessible through the guard via a
closure with HRTB lifetime.
- Wrap ioctl dispatch in RegistrationGuard (returning ENODEV if
unplugged) and pass registration data to handlers.
- Add Driver::ParentDevice associated type.
- Fix unbounded lifetimes in ioctl handler arguments.
- Fix a race in drm_dev_register() where a partial failure allowed
in-flight ioctls to proceed while the error path tore down
resources.
- GEM shmem: add DmaResvGuard helper, vmap functions, and sg_table()
accessor.
- GPUVM: require Send + Sync for the driver's associated data,
implement Send and Sync for GpuVaAlloc and GpuVmBo, add SmContext
lifetime bound, update DriverGpuVm for DeviceContext.
- Nova:
- nova-core / nova-drm cross-crate dependency:
- Build nova-core and nova-drm from drivers/gpu/Makefile for build
ordering, export nova-core Rust symbols for nova-drm. Workaround
until the build system supports Rust cross-crate dependencies
natively.
- GSP boot process consolidation:
- Introduce GspBootContext to bundle common boot parameters,
replacing per-argument threading. Separate context and GPU
lifetimes to support mutable borrows of GPU subdevices.
- Turn FWSEC execution into a HAL method, make FWSEC bootloader
usage a property of the TU102 HAL (GA102+ gets its own instance
with it disabled). Move firmware file selection to the GSP HAL.
- Store the Fsp instance in Gpu (lifetime tied to the GPU, not just
a single boot invocation). Move GSP state and unload bundle into a
pinned subobject for reliable teardown on partial init failure.
- Boot GSP with vGPU enabled:
- Add PRC (Product Reconfiguration Control) protocol to query device
configuration from the FSP. Read vGPU mode, detect and store vGPU
state.
- Set RMSetSriovMode registry entry and reserve the larger WPR2 heap
required when vGPU is enabled.
- Build SetRegistry entries dynamically.
- TLV firmware image format:
- Add a TLV (type-length-value) parser for the new firmware image
format. TLV files use unversioned filenames with a .tlv suffix,
start with "NVFW" magic, and contain tagged blocks with 4-byte
aligned payloads.
- Transition all firmware loading (booter, gsp, gen_bootloader, fsp)
to TLV images.
- Note: this requires a development firmware not in linux-firmware
[1]; this is temporary and serves the transition to r615.
- Hopper/Blackwell fixes and cleanups:
- Correct FRTS vidmem offset calculation, split FbLayout into FSP
and non-FSP versions, fix Blackwell flush address composition, use
absolute FBHUB0 flush registers on Blackwell, use correct sysmem
flush registers on Hopper.
- Harden FSP messaging: limit receive allocation size, catch bogus
queue pointers, ensure DMA allocation lifetimes for FMC boot and
LibOS, wait for RISC-V HALTED on unload.
- I/O projection adoption:
- Use io_project!() for PTE array, message queues, and Falcon DMA
transfer bounds checking.
- Misc:
- Keep unloading if FWSEC-SB fails during Turing/Ampere GSP reset.
- Don't declare booter firmware for FSP chipsets.
- Fix packed registry table size.
- Extract and display usable FB regions from GSP.
- Store bar and dev directly in Falcon, simplifying the API.
- Parse VBIOS structs via zerocopy.
- Convert to kernel bitfield macro, remove local one.
- Move register definitions into sub-modules.
- Add FSP and PRC protocol documentation.
- Tyr:
- Firmware loading and MCU boot:
- Add a generic slot manager for dynamically allocating limited
hardware slots to software seats, with lazy eviction under
contention.
- Add MMU support wrapping the slot manager for address-space slot
allocation, with MAIR-to-MEMATTR translation.
- Add GPU virtual memory (VM) support using drm_gpuvm with ARM64
LPAE Stage 1 page tables and 4KB/2MB page sizes.
- Add a kernel buffer object type for internal driver allocations.
- Add a parser for the Mali CSF firmware binary format.
- Add MCU booting: load, parse, and map firmware sections into VM,
then boot the MCU at probe().
- Cross-subsystem:
- Add faux::Device type with AsBusDevice support. Allow retrieving a
bound Device from a Registration.
- Add device lifetime to IoPageTable.
- Add Vec::zeroed method.
- Add firmware::request_into_buf() to load firmware into a
caller-provided buffer.
- Rename dma_handle to dma_address in the DMA abstraction.
- Change pci_sriov_get_totalvfs() return type to unsigned int; add
Rust helper.

Add documentation for the KVM_PPC_GET_COMPAT_CAPS ioctl to the KVM API
documentation.
The ioctl exposes host processor compatibility modes supported for
nested KVM guests on PowerPC systems. The documentation covers error
code descriptions including E2BIG for forward compatibility,
KVM_PPC_COMPAT_CAPS_SIZE_VER0 as the minimum size floor, the rationale
for rejecting non-zero reserved fields to prevent ABI ambiguity, bit
numbering clarification for IBM MSB-0 convention, and KVM-specific
capability bit constants.

Boot-time tracing currently supports kprobe-events and synthetic-events
under per-event configuration options.
Extend boot-time tracing to support newly added dynamic probe types:
- event probes (eprobe) under the "eprobes" event group
- function probes (fprobe) under the "fprobes" event group
- tracepoint probes (tprobe) under the "tracepoints" or "tprobes"
event group
To support this cleanly, update dyn_event_create() in trace_dynevent.c
so that passing NULL as the type parameter delegates to
create_dyn_event(), allowing generic creation of any registered
dynamic event type from a raw command string.
Update Documentation/trace/boottime-trace.rst accordingly to describe
the new per-event bootconfig options.

Changes in v3:
- Check return values of strscpy() and snprintf() in trace_boot_add_probe_event()
to prevent silent buffer truncation when constructing probe event strings.
Changes in v2:
- Fix raw command detection logic for eprobes, fprobes, and tprobes
by requiring ':' or isspace() after type prefix.
- Consolidate duplicate loop logic into trace_boot_add_probe_event()
helper function.

A struct_ops callback cannot receive an arena pointer directly, so
passing one takes two steps. The pointer arrives as a bare u64 that the
callback casts, and because the two sides address the arena through
different bases it also has to be rebased by hand on the way in.
Add the __arena and __arena__nullable stub argument suffixes to make this
convenient. The callback declares the parameter as an arena pointer,
receives it as a PTR_TO_ARENA register, and dereferences it directly,
while the kernel caller just passes the natural kernel arena address
(kaddr). The trampoline converts the value while saving the arguments
into the BPF ctx, ctx[slot] = (u32)(kaddr - kern_vm_start), so the
program never sees a kernel address and nothing rewrites the ctx after
the fact. The converted value keeps the upper 32 bits clear as the JITs
require of arena pointer registers and behaves like any cast_kern'ed
arena pointer, so cast_user recovers the full user-visible address.
__arena converts unconditionally and the kernel caller must not pass
NULL. __arena__nullable preserves NULL, tested on the full 64-bit kernel
pointer, and surfaces to the verifier as PTR_TO_ARENA (but not as a
PTR_TO_ARENA | PTR_MAYBE_NULL). The reason is that PTR_TO_ARENA in the
program's type state already encompasses NULL-ness, so it is not
meaningful to force a NULL check for the program.
The composite suffix intentionally ends in __nullable. Classify
__arena__nullable before the generic suffix so scalar arena pointees do
not take the generic nullable BTF pointer path.
This patch adds the generic side. prepare_arg_info() records arena and
nullable argument flags in the struct_ops function model, and
bpf_tramp_arena_base() returns the arena base for a single-program
struct_ops indirect trampoline. Only that trampoline converts: its
program's arena is fixed at generation time. Generic trampolines can mix
programs with different arenas and reject arena context arguments
defensively, which is unreachable today as only struct_ops programs
carry them. Architectures that do not implement the conversion are
gated out at verification time with bpf_jit_supports_arena_args().

Passing an arena pointer to a kfunc takes two steps today. There is no
arena pointer argument type, so the pointer crosses the boundary as a
bare scalar, and the kfunc then offsets it by the arena base and casts
it before it can touch the memory. Every such kfunc open-codes the same
translation.
Add the __arena and __arena__nullable argument suffixes to make this more
convenient. The kfunc declares the parameter by its real pointer type
and dereferences it directly, with the JIT rebasing the value at the
call site, rN = kern_vm_start + (u32)rN. No bounds check is needed: the
u32 offset stays within the guard-padded arena kernel mapping, and a
fault on an unpopulated page recovers through the per-arena scratch
page. A suffixed argument accepts a PTR_TO_ARENA or scalar register,
matching global subprog arena arguments.
__arena rebases unconditionally, so the kfunc never sees NULL and a
value with zero in the low 32 bits arrives as the arena base.
__arena__nullable preserves NULL for optional arguments by skipping the
rebase when the truncated value, arena offset 0, is zero. Keeping the
plain form NULL-free saves the NULL test on every call.
The double separator makes the annotations composable:
__arena__nullable also ends in __nullable and naturally follows the
common nullable argument path. Plain __arena follows that path too for
verifier type checking because both forms accept a constant zero; the
function-model flag still determines whether the JIT preserves NULL or
rebases it to the arena base.
This patch adds the verifier side: the suffixes are recognized in
check_kfunc_args() and distilled into argument flags in the function
model stored in the kfunc descriptor. JITs retrieve the model while
emitting the call, avoiding per-call state in insn_aux_data.
JITs declare support with bpf_jit_supports_arena_args() and verification
fails with -ENOTSUPP elsewhere.

Every devmem dmabuf binding today hands the page_pool PAGE_SIZE niovs.
This caps a single RX descriptor at PAGE_SIZE, burning CPU on buffer

Add a bind-time netlink attribute, NETDEV_A_DMABUF_RX_PAGE_SIZE, that
lets userspace request a larger niov size. The value must be a power of

Zicclsm requires misaligned support for all regular load and store
instructions, both scalar and vector, but not AMOs or other
specialized forms of memory access, to main memory regions with both
the cacheability and coherence PMAs, as defined in the profiles spec.
Even though mandated, misaligned loads and stores might execute
extremely slowly. Standard software distributions should assume their
existence only for correctness, not for performance.

This commit prevents tail-drop when IFF_BACKPRESSURE is set, a qdisc is
present and the ptr_ring becomes full. Once the ring reaches capacity
after a produce attempt, the netdev queue is stopped instead of dropping
subsequent packets. Without the flag, or if no qdisc is present, the
previous tail-drop behavior is preserved.
IFF_BACKPRESSURE is added to TUN_FEATURES here and not in the patch that
defines it, so that TUNSETIFF honours the flag only once the
implementation behind it is complete.
The unconditional version of this behavior was reverted because it caused
a significant throughput drop in an IPv6 multicast testcase on Brett
Sheffield's librecast testbed [1]: with 8 iperf3 TCP threads sending, the
throughput dropped from 13.5 Gbit/s to 9.13 Gbit/s. This is why the queue
stopping is now gated on IFF_BACKPRESSURE.
If producing an entry fails anyway due to a race, tun_net_xmit() drops
the packet. Such rare races are expected because LLTX is enabled and the
transmit path operates without the usual locking.
The queue state is only touched while the device is running. The stop
itself would be harmless during teardown, as tun_net_close() sets the
same bit, but the re-check below it wakes the queue again and must not
clear that stop.
A later TUNSETIFF can clear the flag again while the device has at most
one queue. Past that point tun_set_iff() returns before it writes
tun->flags, which is how it already treats every other TUN_FEATURES bit.
For the case where the flag does change, tun_set_iff() calls
tun_force_wake_queue() for the attached tfiles, so that no queue stays
stopped without a consumer that would wake it.
The __tun_wake_queue() function of the consumer races with the producer
for waking/stopping the netdev queue, which could result in a stalled
queue. Therefore, an smp_mb__after_atomic() is introduced that pairs
with the smp_mb() of the consumer. It follows the principle of store
buffering described in tools/memory-model/Documentation/recipes.txt:
- The producer in tun_net_xmit() first sets __QUEUE_STATE_DRV_XOFF,
followed by an smp_mb__after_atomic() (= smp_mb()), and then reads the
ring with __ptr_ring_check_produce().
- The consumer in __tun_wake_queue() first writes zero to the ring in
__ptr_ring_consume(), followed by an smp_mb(), and then reads the queue
status with netif_tx_queue_stopped().
=> Following the aforementioned principle, it is impossible for the
producer to see a full ring (and therefore not wake the queue on the
re-check) while the consumer simultaneously fails to see a stopped
queue (and therefore also does not wake it).
tun_net_xmit() holds only the producer_lock and can not reset cons_cnt,
which the consumer_lock protects, so the wake on the re-check leaves
stale credit behind. That is accepted as best-effort, the re-check rarely
succeeds and the next drain corrects the count.
The documentation in tuntap.rst is updated accordingly.
Benchmarks:
My own benchmarks show a slight regression in raw transmission performance
when using two sending threads. Packet loss also occurs only in the
two-thread sending case; no packet loss was observed with a single
sending thread.
Test setup:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X at 4.3 GHz, 3200 MHz RAM, isolated QEMU threads;
Average over 50 runs @ 100,000,000 packets. SRSO and spectre v2
mitigations disabled.
Note for tap+vhost-net:
XDP drop program active in VM -> ~2.5x faster; slower for tap due to
more syscalls (high utilization of entry_SYSRETQ_unsafe_stack in perf)
