Implement the struct_ops arena argument conversion on arm64. save_args()
receives the arena base from bpf_tramp_arena_base() and consults the
btf_func_model argument flags as it copies each native argument into the
BPF ctx, routing a marked argument through x10 with the low half of the
base materialized once into x11:
sub w10, wsrc, w11 /* truncate and clear the upper 32 bits */
str x10, [sp, #slot]
A nullable argument tests the full 64-bit kernel pointer first:
mov x10, xsrc
cbz x10, 1f
sub w10, w10, w11
1:
str x10, [sp, #slot]
The 32-bit subtraction is sufficient since (u32)(kaddr - base) ==
(u32)kaddr - (u32)base, and it clears the upper half as the JITs require
of arena pointer registers. Stack-passed arguments already reload
through x10, so only the subtraction (and the NULL test) is inserted
there.
The register loop now walks arguments rather than registers so that the
per-argument flags line up with the slots a multi-slot argument occupies;
the sequence of stores is otherwise unchanged. bpf_tramp_arena_base()
returns a base only for a single-program struct_ops indirect trampoline,
so a tracing trampoline emits exactly what it did before and never
touches x11. The size probe reruns the same emission with the same model
and nodes, so the image size matches by construction.
Conversion must never reach the original function, which takes kernel
addresses. That holds because BPF_TRAMP_F_INDIRECT is incompatible with
BPF_TRAMP_F_CALL_ORIG, so pass 0 rather than the base to the call-origin
save_args() and assert the flag combination the same way x86 does,
rather than leaving the invariant to a comment.
With both the kfunc and struct_ops directions implemented, flip
bpf_jit_supports_arena_args() on for arm64 and drop the x86-64-only
qualifier from the kfunc documentation.

I have been reviewing how OP‑TEE is implemented and how secure‑world
invocations behave. The goal was to determine whether an OP‑TEE call can
delay the Linux side and introduce latency depending on the time spent
in the secure world.
Similar latency effects are already known for EFI runtime services, but
this was not documented. To mitigate the impact, EFI runtime invocations
can be restricted to specific CPUs so that real‑time workloads on other
CPUs remain unaffected. This mechanism, however, is only described in
the commit that introduced it.
This change adds a firmware section that documents these behaviours
explicitly. It highlights cases where firmware can delay the kernel,
information that may be unfamiliar to some users and surprising-or
concerning-to others.

The main index.rst file for the pt_BR translation was grouping all
translated process documents directly in its toctree, which frequently
caused patch collisions among contributors.
Following Jonathan Corbet's suggestion, this patch introduces a new
pt_BR/process/index.rst that mirrors the subsection structure of the
English Documentation/process/index.rst. The translated documents are
now organized into their respective categories, rather than a single
flat list.
The root pt_BR/index.rst now simply references process/index.
This matches the upstream categorization and significantly reduces
merge conflicts for future pt_BR translations.

Under heavy concurrent DMA traffic on CoCo VMs, inc_used_and_hiwater()
performs an atomic_long_add_return() plus a CAS loop on the global
used_hiwater, and dec_used() performs an atomic_long_sub() on total_used.
All CPUs contend on the same cacheline, causing measurable throughput
degradation at scale.
Historically these counters were only compiled in under CONFIG_DEBUG_FS,
which means production kernels with debugfs paid the atomic overhead
unconditionally. Make the tracking boot-time opt-in instead so that it
is disabled by default with near-zero overhead via static_call, and can
be enabled via "swiotlb=track_hiwater" parameter on demand for debugging.
Note that when CONFIG_DEBUG_FS is enabled but hiwater tracking is disabled,
the "io_tlb_used" metric reports an approximate value rather than an
instantaneously exact one.

Kfunc declarations can identify arena arguments through parameter name
suffixes without repeating KF_ARENA_ARG flags in their BTF ID sets.
resolve_btfids currently misses those arguments when synthesizing the
address_space(1) attributes used by generated vmlinux.h files.
Teach the arena prototype rewrite to recognize __arena and
__arena__nullable directly on each parameter. Keep KF_ARENA_ARG1 and
KF_ARENA_ARG2 handling for explicitly flagged kfuncs, while allowing
suffixes on any argument without synthesizing kfunc flags.

It was an effort to enhance fscache as a kernel cache for lazy
pulling (at least according to previous Incremental FS discussion [1])
and EROFS over fscache was the in-tree user of this mode.
fscache has since evolved to be netfslib-oriented, serving network
filesystem inodes via the netfs library, but EROFS never acts as a
network filesystem and we need to cache golden filesystem images rather
than individual EROFS inodes.
Since EROFS over fscache is now removed, clean up netfs/fscache/
cachefiles upstream too.

Add regulator support for the four ES8316 power domains so board

The binding patch documents AVDD, CPVDD, DVDD and PVDD as optional

the regmap and keeps them enabled for the lifetime of the I2C device.

cpuset still updates PFA_SPREAD_SLAB when tasks attach to a legacy
cpuset and walks all tasks in a cpuset when memory_spread_slab changes.
Remove the unused task flag and its helpers, and make spread task
updates depend only on memory_spread_page.
Keep the memory_spread_slab control and CS_SPREAD_SLAB state so legacy
users retain the existing write, readback and inheritance behavior.

a light-weight network functions backed by an underlying PCI function.
Their lifecycle can already be managed by devlink, but currently users
cannot enable them in the device. They can be enabled/disabled only via

Ville Saarinen <wiza@saarinenkoti.fi> says:
The HP OmniBook X Flip 14-kc0xxx (board 8EA1, Strix Point, ACP 7.2) has no
usable audio on mainline at all. Its BIOS reports an ACP configuration flag
of FLAG_AMD_LEGACY_ONLY_DMIC, which binds the legacy ACP driver and
registers a PDM-only card, so the SoundWire links are never scanned. The
two TAS2783 speaker amplifiers on link 0 and the RT712-VB jack codec on
link 1 never enumerate, and the machine has no playback path whatsoever.
Patch 1 adds a DMI quirk overriding the flag so snd_pci_ps probes. Patch 2
adds the machine entry describing the link topology.
With both applied the card comes up and every path on the machine works:
internal speakers, headphone jack with detection, headset microphone and
the internal DMIC array. Two further patches are needed for the speakers
to render stereo rather than mono, and to survive a system resume; those
are in the TAS2783 codec driver and are being sent separately to the TI
maintainers, since they have no build dependency on this pair.
Related reports for the same root cause on other machines:
- kernel bugzilla #221226 (ASUS Zenbook S16)
- CachyOS linux-cachyos#820 (HP OmniBook X Flip 16, board 8EA2 -- the
sibling board, which would need its own entry; I have no access to
one and have not added it)
Tested on the affected machine only. I do not have any other ACP 7.2
board, so the gating on patch 2 is written to be conservative rather than
broad.
Testing
=======
The hardware testing was done on v7.1.6, where an equivalent version of
this pair is what makes audio work on the machine. Against the master
commit named below, both patches have been compile-tested only (gcc, W=1,
no new warnings, no new external symbol references).
Patch 2 has been reworked slightly relative to the tested build: the
RT712-VB entry now reuses the existing jack_dmic_endpoints array, which
already describes exactly the AIF1 jack + AIF3 DMIC pairing this board
needs, instead of adding a second identical copy of it. That was a
mechanical substitution, but it has not been through hardware.
Tool disclosure, per Documentation/process/generated-content.rst
================================================================
This work was done in extended interactive sessions with Claude (Anthropic,
model claude-opus-5) acting as a coding and debugging assistant, and a
substantial amount of the analysis and of the patch text originated with
it. Both patches carry an Assisted-by tag as described in
Documentation/process/coding-assistants.rst.
The division of work:
- The assistant read the DMI data and ACP configuration flag off the
running machine, identified the flag override as the fix, derived the
SoundWire topology from the enumerated peripherals, and drafted both
patches and both changelogs.
- I ran everything that needed root or physical access, rebooted into
each build, and did the listening tests. The left/right ordering in
patch 2 is set by the order of the two amplifier entries; the first
version had the sides reversed and that was caught by ear, not by the
assistant.
- No single prompt generated these patches. The session was iterative
over roughly a day: inspect state, form a hypothesis, build, reboot,
measure, discard the hypothesis if the measurement disagreed. Several
confident intermediate conclusions were wrong and were only caught by
measurement.
I have reviewed both patches, I understand what they do, and I take
responsibility for them.

Add qcom,glymur-qmp-gen5x8-pcie-phy.yaml as a standalone binding for the
Glymur Gen5 PCIe PHY hardware block. This block supports two link modes,
selected at runtime via a TCSR syscon register:
1. x8 - a single 8-lane PHY instance is exposed
2. x4+x4 - two independent 4-lane PHY instances are exposed
Keep this as a separate schema from qcom,sc8280xp-qmp-pcie-phy.yaml rather
than folding it into the shared compatible list there, since the two PHY
instances active in x8 mode require twice as many clocks, resets, and
power-domains as any other entry in that file, and adding Glymur-specific
properties like qcom,link-mode and reg-names there would only apply to
this one compatible.
Document the required clocks, resets, and power-domains for both PHY
instances, and use #phy-cells = <1>, where the cell value is the PHY
index within the active link mode.

Pin-level attributes (frequency, phase adjust, embedded sync, reference
sync) are properties of the pin itself, not of a particular DPLL device.
The get callbacks already use only the pin owner's DPLL reference
(via dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first()), but the set callbacks iterate over
all registered DPLL references and invoke the set operation on each one.
This is redundant because a pin is a single physical entity - setting
its frequency or phase adjust once through the owner's ops is sufficient.
Calling set on every registered DPLL just results in duplicate HW writes
for drivers that share a pin across multiple DPLL devices (e.g. ice
registers each input pin with both the EEC and PPS DPLL, zl3073x
registers input pins with every DPLL channel).
Simplify dpll_pin_freq_set(), dpll_pin_esync_set(),
dpll_pin_ref_sync_state_set() and dpll_pin_phase_adj_set() to call the
set callback only through the owner's DPLL reference, matching the
existing get-side behavior. This removes the xa_for_each iteration
loops, the now-unnecessary rollback logic, and several local variables.
The -EOPNOTSUPP validation loop, which checked ops support across all
owner-matching references, is replaced with a direct check on the
single owner reference returned by dpll_pin_own_dpll_ref_first().
The documentation in dpll.rst is updated to reflect that pin-level
attributes are set through the pin owner's dpll reference only.
No existing driver is affected:
- ptp_ocp and mlx5 register each pin with a single DPLL.
- ice registers input pins with two DPLLs (EEC and PPS) using
identical ops and pin_priv; the set callbacks address the HW by
pin index, not by DPLL, so the second call was a no-op.
- zl3073x registers input pins with every DPLL channel; the set
callbacks address HW by pin/ref ID regardless of DPLL. The
ref_sync_set callback was the only one with per-channel behavior,
addressed by the preceding patch.

This patch adds a dynamic management feature to the existing device
aliasing functionality. It allows users to dynamically reserve or
release specific devices from the filesystem's free pool at runtime
through new ioctls.
To support this, three new ioctls are introduced:
- F2FS_IOC_RESERVE_DEV_ALIAS: This reclaims the space occupied by a
device aliasing file. It first performs a capacity check, resets GC
victim information for the target range, marks the segments as in-use
to prevent new allocations, and then triggers GC to migrate existing
valid data out of the range. Finally, it reserves these blocks in the
SIT to effectively exclude the device from the usable capacity.
- F2FS_IOC_RELEASE_DEV_ALIAS: This releases the reserved space of a
previously reserved device aliasing file. It truncates the blocks
associated with the file, which makes them available for general
filesystem allocation again.
- F2FS_IOC_GET_DEV_ALIAS_STATUS: This retrieves the current aliasing
status of a device aliasing file, returning whether the file is
released (inactive alias) or reserved (active alias, with blocks
fully allocated on the device).

Writing 0 to kernel.ftrace_enabled has not reliably disabled ftrace
for years (FTRACE_OPS_FL_PERMANENT users already block it, and more
callers rely on ftrace always being on). Refuse the write instead of
leaving it in an inconsistent "disables some, not all" state: return
-EOPNOTSUPP and log a message. Reads and enabling (writing 1) are
unaffected.
Update the docs to note the deprecation up front.
